FWIW the 2nd Gen Volts(2016 and later) get better MPG than 1st gen; 42 mpg in charge sustaining mode vs 37 and they do it using regular gas instead of premium. That plus almost 50% more range in EV mode. Significantly different engine, different transmission and different E-motors. June 22, 20
