Re: [EVDL] 2013-2015 Nissan Leaf recalled for braking problem, 46, 000 vehicles affected
Check your VIN against the recall checker. If it shows up, you get the repair for free. If it doesn't show up, either the repair was already done, or your vehicle is not affected. Re: [EVDL] 2013-2015 Nissan Leaf recalled for braking problem, 46, 000 vehicles affected
I'm pretty sure that Cor is right; safety recalls don't expire, although I've read that the manufacturer can challenge the requirement if the vehicle is more than 15 years old. Do I recall right that your Leaf's VIN was NOT listed as one to which that recall applied? If that's true, then you probably don't officially get a free fix for this. Have you tried calling Nissan customer service? If you do a little sweet- talking, they might agree to arrange a free or reduced-cost repair for the sake of goodwill and your continued business. Sounds like BS to > me. I'm not an expert on these matters, but as I understand it, "no longer a recall" isn't a thing. Recalls don't expire. If your Leaf hasn't had the recall, you should still be able to have it done until it's at least 15 years old. Dealers don't like doing recall service. They get paid less for it than for repairs they bill to a customer, so the sleazy ones will try to weasel out of it. What this says about your dealer there will be left as an exercise for the reader. Have you called the Nissan number mentioned in the story? 800 647-7261 Or you could try another Nissan dealer. You might also try going here and entering your VIN. https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ If the recall service has already been carried out on your car, and the problem has recurred, then I don't know what your options would be. If your VIN isn't included in the recall, it probably didn't affect your specific Leaf. https://www.nissanusa.com/recalls-vin.html Jay On 2/23/22 19:40, Mark Hanson via EV wrote: Hi folks My 2013 Nissan Leaf has this cold braking problem and I can’t figure out if the brake booster dropout when cold is software (cheap update) or hardware related (replace brake booster).
