That j1772 EV-charger (EVSE) goes way back (~2010) to when Aerovironment was in the EVSE business (they have since quit that). I've used it a couple of times when I was driving a loaner production EV back then. But I haven't owed one of these, nor would I purchase one. I am glad it works well with your Leaf, but I always felt it was cheaply made, flimsy, that as a home EVSE it might be OK, but not for regular use as a busy public EVSE spot. That opinion was confirmed when I checked out the newly installed EVSE at Palo Alto, CA's Standford Shopping Center https://www.plugshare.com/location/2785 where the affluent/very-well-to-do spend the gobs of moola at over-priced ritzy store$. Shoo-nuff, there were two AV EVSE-RS installed in the 1st level of the parking structure across from mcdys. Not an arcing sound, but of chattering of relay contacts.
