% Tesla's CEO has a lot on his plate. Outsiders (like the pontificating
clueless media writers) can only guess(imagine) the CEO's reasoning. I don't
have inside details nor a clue of what is on his desk or what transpires on
the phone, chat, or wheels-n-deals in other countries (he has a lot of forks
in the fire/a lot going on). But, lets review a bit (and I hope others will
add to this brief list:

Selling online is NOT a new concept in the U.S. But a completely foreign
approach to automakers (they will forever be thinking
1900's-old-school/backward/100 years behind).

Recently, (media-outlet.jp) NHK did a news-piece on China's online sales.

positively significant, the Communist.gov has poured $M into setting up an
environment that aids in this revenue-generating endeavor
(note: don't dwell on the word bloggers . These are citizens.cn that are
selling online).
Using the power of cheap handheld internet devices, KOLs have captured a
portion of the market. As you view the video, note, the sellers were not
worried sales dropping off, as they knew their use of discount coupons which
were valid after midnight would again bring in large sales ...

KOLs, an abbreviation for "Key Opinion Leaders," are a growing presence in
Chinese advertising, video bloggers, and promoters who connect new consumers
with products by using the strength of their personal recommendations. Their
influence has been so great that the Chinese government built an entire
industrial village for bloggers on the outskirts of Wuhan City. In this
episode we meet the men and women who generate hundreds of millions of
dollars and immeasurable support with the strength of their opinions ...
