I agree. Electric heat is appealing to builders because it is CHEAP and
EASY for them to install. They don't care what it costs the homeowner to
run it.

Most homeowners don't care about pollution or energy efficiency, either.
All they care about is their monthly heating bill.

The "better way" with electricity is a heat pump. If they were in
widespread use, it would probably reduce society's total energy
consumption and air pollution, regardless of what fuel was used to run
it (electric motor, piston engine driven by natural gas, etc.)

Of course, burning wood produces even more pollution than coal!

History tells us it was very bad. It's hard to imagine scrubbers being
installed on every small home coal-burning furnace, as well.

Yep; the pollution produced by the exhaust is being dumped right inside
your house. Luckily, gas is relative clean. Still, it can cause problems
because new houses are being built so tight.

This wouldn't be useful for nicads.

How can they stop you from connecting loads to your TOU meter?

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

presumably because of the specific chemistry used; so, is there advantage
in pulse-charging with other chemistries (or is it generally not good, but
some chemistries tollerate it better than others?)

A permanent magnet motor with just a flywheel on its shaft looks to an out
side circuit exactly like a large capacitor, one with a large series
resistance and inductance and a large leakage current, but it behaves the
same.

Is there a similar setup that would behave like an inductor?

Hello,
Did the list server hicup? This one didn't come in as an EVDL Digest,
like normal, it claimed it came directly from you. It looks like the
original sender was [EMAIL PROTECTED], through
snipe.mail.pas.earthlink.net, so it's doesn't seem to be a KLEZ relative,
and my antivirus didn't see anything.
Odd, very odd, but thought I'd let you know, just in case.
