You may be right, though you aren't taking into account the other factors, most importantly the long term maintenance. However, I think the bigger factor is the amount of time you need to spend charging on a long road trip. If you only drive 200 or so miles a day, no problem. You can charge

Granted you can save some money and buy a used EV with short range. I am sold on the Supercharging Network of Tesla. I got 90 miles of range in less than 10 minutes on my last trip which was enough to get me to my Hotel where I charged for free. Then next night I again charged at the hotel

People rarely do the math. Say they do a 660 mile trip 3 times a year and they drive the normal American 15,000 miles a year, then the trip mileage is only 13% of their total usage. Miniscule. For a pure EV. Yes, they pay 28 cents per kwh for that 13% of the time, but all the rest of the time
