A 52-year-old e-scooter rider died on the same day after he collided into an SBS transit double-decker bus, shattering the bus’ front window. Photos of the incident that occurred at the junction of Bedok Reservoir Road and Kaki Bukit Avenue 1 show the e-scooter pinned underneath and the scooter rider lying on the road nearby, gravely injured. The rider passed away shortly after he was conveyed to the hospital. Another caucasian man was caught illegally skating on the road during morning peak hours today along Tiong Bahru Road. When confronted by a taxi driver, the man allegedly challenged the driver that it is legal for him to skate along the road. According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), skateboards and electric scooters are considered PMDs and, as such, are not allowed for use on roads. The Authority clearly states: “Under the Road Traffic Act, anyone found using non-compliant vehicles may be charged in Court, and fined up to $2,000 or jailed up to 3 months for the first offence. For subsequent offences, the offender may be fined up to $5,000 or jailed up to 6 months upon conviction.
