% Here is where those anti-EV snarky types will attack you for having a
plugin. IMO:
-if you drive a pih do not plug in so you can state you are using its
on-board ice same as their gas car, and like the way local utilities have
placed diesel generators out to keep local businesses up

-EVs should be fully charged by 2pm, and do not plug in again until after
9pm

-be in conservative mode: drive slower saves range to need less of a
recharge, and plan for a longer charge at a lower powered EVSE setting
(charge at 3kW instead of 6kW - except if you charge on ToU which is in the
middle of the night. Charging in the a.m. is better than in the p.m.)

-Note: all your non-plugin driving co-workers and neighbors are being
instructed to unplug their life style (see below), so they will be irritable
at anything and everyone (like a person going through internet or TV
withdrawals, etc.)

-Remember it is not EVs fault electricity is in high demand. It is the CA
utilities' short shortsightedness, profit-1st thinking that has the grid in
bad shape when demand is high.

... Power Down Your Computer: Enable "power management" on all computers and
make sure to turn them off when not in use.

... Unplug Electronics: Unplug battery chargers, power strips (those without
a switch) and other equipment when not in use. Taken together, these small
items can use as much power as your refrigerator.

... Equipment: Turn off any office equipment that is not currently in use.
Alternately, look for sleep or power-saving modes in-between uses during the
day.

... Computers: Enable power management settings on all computers, so that
they go to sleep and turn off screens when not in use.

... Break room: Plug electronics such as coffee-makers and microwaves into
power strips and switch them off when the day is done.

... End-of-the-Day: As you leave the office, get in the habit of checking to
make sure computers, printers/copiers, and other office equipment is fully
shut down. If possible, switch them off at the power strip to ensure they
are no longer draining energy.
