JLR has supplied its Jaguar C-X75 model for a car chase sequence in Rome as well as its Range Rover Sport SVR and Land Rover Defender Big Foot models for other parts of Spectre, the 24th James Bond film. The C-X75 was unveiled in 2010 as "the most advanced Jaguar ever created" and was intended to enter full production until the plug was pulled in 2012, according to JLR due to the global economic climate. Jaguar developed the car with Williams Advance Engineering to have "a combined power output in excess of 850bhp and 1000Nm of torque, thanks to its state-of-the-art, Formula 1-inspired, 1.6-litre dual-boosted (turbocharged and supercharged) four-cylinder powerplant which generates 502 bhp at 10,000 rpm". Jaguar claims it will also run for 60km in pure electric vehicle mode and its CO2 emissions fall below 89g/km. However, the prospect of a Bond villain with an environmental conscience is not a sure thing, with Mail Online reporting that the car in the film "is expected to be fitted with Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine, instead of using its existing hybrid". Marketing is seeking clarification from Jaguar. The film is directed by Sam Mendes with Daniel Craig returning as Bond and is due in cinemas in October. It has not been confirmed who will play the villain but it is widely expected to be the role taken by cast member Christoph Waltz. Jaguar has made villains the heroes of its advertising recently. It brought out an ad for the Super Bowl last year featuring actors Sir Ben Kingsley, Mark Strong and Tom Hiddleston asking viewers if they had ever noticed how all the villains in Hollywood movies are played by Brits. http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/jaguar-c-x75-and-range-rovers-confirmed-for-007-spectre/ Cast a goldeneye on the Jaguars and Land Rovers starring in 007: Spectre By Alexander Kalogianni — February 9, 2015 [image http://s3.amazonaws.com/digitaltrends-uploads-prod/2015/02/Jaguar-Land-Rover-007.jpg ] Jaguar’s prototype C-X75 never entered production and the Land Rover Defender’s days are numbered, but both will “die another day” as they’re slated to appear in the 24th James Bond film titled Spectre. Jaguar Land Rover confirmed rumors that the non-produced hybrid hyper car will appear in the upcoming feature, most likely as the vehicle for the film’s villain. Only five versions of the prototype were produced, each housing a hybrid system that produced around 850 horsepower and propelled the car to a top speed of 220 mph. It should be more than enough to give Bond’s one-off Aston Martin DB10 a run for its money. Both are planned to meet during a chase sequence that takes place in the streets of Rome. Apart form the sexy and fast road cars, modified versions of the Land Rover Defenders were provided for sequences filmed in Austria. These “Big Foot” Defenders were constructer by LJR’s special operations division, outfitted with 37-inch diameter off-road tires for serious terrain traversal. They were also enhanced with more body protection and a custom suspension system. Land Rover is setting the sun on the Defender’s amazing 68-year run with three special editions, and we wouldn’t mind if this hardcore off-roader was made available as an unofficial fourth. Lastly, the Range Rover Sport SVR will also make an appearance in the film. this Range Rover is the fastest and most powerful one ever built, packing a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that grinds out 542 horsepower, launching it from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds, which it then tops out at 162 mph. For the record, that faster than the 155 mph most BMW’s are limited to. Also in the movie will be the new Range Rover Sport SVR and Defender Bigfoot models from Jaguar’s sister company, Land Rover. The C-X75, which will be driven by the film’s main villain, was first shown in concept form at the 2010 Paris motor show. Jaguar then formed a partnership with the Williams F1 team, who replaced the micro gas turbines of the concept with a petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain producing 778bhp. However, Jaguar ultimately decided against putting the car on sale. The Range Rover Sport SVR uses a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine and can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.5sec, while the Defender Bigfoot has huge, 37-inch diameter off-road tyres and is designed to tackle extreme terrain. Spectre is scheduled to be released in the UK on November 6. [© telegraph.co.[you kay]] ... http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/g6092/jaguar-c-x75-photo-gallery/ Jaguar C-X75 - Photo Gallery ... Three JLR cars are set to be featured in the new James Bond movie Spectre, with the company saying that its prototype supercar, the Jaguar C-X75, will be part of a spectacular car chase sequence through Rome alongside the 007’s own set of wheels, the Aston Martin DB10. The C-X75 is a hybrid-electric, two-seat, concept car from Jaguar which debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The concept produces 778 horsepower through four electric motors, each of which drives one of the four wheels. While a maximum of 250 cars were planned to be built in partnership with Formula One team Williams F1, the carmaker was forced to shelve production plans in December 2012 due to the global economic crisis. In 2013, Jaguar announced its decision to continue working on five prototypes, of which three were to be sold at auction, while one is go into a future Jaguar museum, and the other will be kept by Jaguar for running demonstrations. The C-X75 vehicles have been built in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering facility in Oxfordshire, England, the carmaker said, and report suggests that Jaguar finally built a total of 10 of these cars. Nevertheless, sharing screen space with C-X75 will be its peers Range Rover Sport SVRs and Defender Big Foots, all three of which were provided by the JLR Special Operations division for the 24th James Bond adventure, Spectre. “This is an exciting partnership for Jaguar Land Rover and an opportunity to demonstrate the fantastic capabilities of the Special Operations team,” said John Edwards, Managing Director of JLR Special Operations. It won’t be the first time for JLR vehicles to star in a James Bond movie, with the most recent being in 2012, when the rugged Defender 110 Double Cab Pick Up was driven by field agent Eve Moneypenny in the opening sequence to Skyfall. According to the carmaker, scenes including the heavily modified Land Rover Defenders & Range Rover Sport SVR have already been filmed in Austria. JLR pegs the Range Rover Sport SVR as the fastest and the most powerful Land Rover ever. On the other hand, the highly capable Big Foots were constructed by the Special Operations division with huge 37-inch diameter off-road tyres to tackle the extreme terrain. They also feature bespoke suspension and enhanced body protection. Spectre will be the 24th James Bond film produced by Eon Productions. It will be the second film in the series directed by Sam Mendes and will feature Daniel Craig in his fourth performance as James Bond and Christoph Waltz as Franz Oberhauser. Spectre is scheduled to be released in late-October/early November 2015. It'll be giving 007 and his Aston DB10 a headache in the new Bond film The Jaguar C-X75 is a car we very much like at TG. Or should we say liked. After teasing us with the tech details of the 900bhp hybrid, and even letting us have a go, Jag then pulled the plug on it, unable to make the money stack up. No one can own one. No one, that is, except super-evil geniuses who want to take over the world. Jaguar has announced an orange C-X75 will be among the cast in the next James Bond epic, Spectre, and while details are scant, one quote all but confirms that the film's ne'er-do-wells will be behind the wheel. That's because we're promised "a spectacular car chase sequence through Rome alongside the Aston Martin DB10", a car already confirmed as Bond's new company wheels. A car chase across Rome? An idea nicked from Top Gear, surely... The C-X75 won't be the only JLR product on the big screen, either; a Range Rover SVR and some modified ‘Big Foot' Land Rover Defenders have been spotted at filming in Austria, the Landies aggressively equipped to negotiate some difficult terrain. Whether we'll see a production version as the Defender takes its final bow hasn't been confirmed... It's a sweet deal for JLR's Special Operations team, and alongside the debut of Aston's stunning little DB10, patriotic pride should be high for British petrolheads when the film lands. In the 24th Bond film you can look forward to seeing high-speed car action from Jaguar's stunning C-X75, the Aston Martin DB10 and even appearances from heavily modified Land Rover Defender Big Foot and Range Rover Sport SVR beasts. According to Jaguar Land Rover we will see the Jaguar C-X75 feature in a "spectacular car chase sequence through Rome along side the Aston Martin DB10". The Range Rover Sport SVR is the most powerful Land Rover ever, according to the company. The Land Rover Defender Big Foot was modified to feature massive 37-inch off-road tyres to tackle extreme terrain, bespoke suspension and enhance body protection. They sound like some even Bond would be impressed with. The most recent appearance of Land Rover in a Bond film was the last, Skyfall, where Moneypenny drove the Land Rover Defender 110 Double Cab Pick Up. We can't wait to see the 778 horsepower plug-in hybrid Jaguar C-X75 up against the 4.7L V8 Aston Martin DB10 that was created specifically for this Bond film. Here's hoping after the film these will go on the market so anyone, who's rich enough, can buy them and the rest of us can enjoy drooling as they pass us on the road.
