Except that the average consumer would probably say "I'm not going to
pay $50,000 for a 350 mile range when I can just get a $15,000 gas car
that does the same!"

That said, I think range-extending trailers are nice to enable road
trips. About once a month, my family goes to our cabin, which is 300
miles away, and stopping in the middle to charge would make the trip
even worse. I guess an EV isn't practical for that anyways, though,
due to the amount of cargo.
