Hi Jason Resch Yes, bad things can happen in this contingent world, just because it's contingent. And contingency breeds contingency. That's a good reason for the establishment beforehand of Perfect Harmony. Contingency and Perfect harmony must go together.
But if it's any reason for you not to hate God if bad things happen to you, Leibniz makes the point that what is good for the whole does not guarantee that it would be good for each part.
