Perhaps this may help in understanding the meaning of pragmatic truth. In pragmatism, if A causes B, then B is the truth of A.
I think the arithmetic form of that would be that if 2+2 equals or produces or results in 4, then 4 is the (pragmatic) truth of 2+2. ---------------------------------------------------------- ----- Have received the following content ----- Sender: Roger Clough Receiver: everything-list Time: 2012-12-26, 16:32:28 Subject: Pragmatic truth and the solipsism issue Hi It seems that we cannot prove by ordinary definitions of truth that other minds exist (the solipsism dilemma), but I believe that pragmatism can shed some light on the issue. In pragmatism, if A causes B, then B is the truth of A. The corresponding analytic statement might be that what is produced in 3p by perception is the truth of 1p.
