Who told you that? So far as is known experimentally electrons are point 
particles and
that's how they are modeled in QFT. If string theory turns out to be a better 
model,
they'll have extension in that model - but there's no logical or meta-physical 
reason that
they can't be points. Points are places in space, i.e. world lines in spacetime.
