I used to run into this when setting up for conferences: We had a demonstration calendar loaded with lots of appointments, all of which were recurring and all of which had alarms. We'd open it up four or five times a year to give demos, and every appointment our demonstration person had missed

I just subscribed to the list and saw a thread from last month that exactly describes my problem: Hundreds of Alarms. I have Evolution 1.4.4 on a Mandrake 9.2 system, and after doing an initial synchronization with my Palm, I can't start Evolution without hundreds of reminder windows popping

I don't know about gnome, but in kde all the alarm windows are represented by a single task icon on the task bar. If I right click on that task bar icon and select Close All, they all go away. I have determined that this also causes them to be acknowledged in Evo, so they don't show up
