        Hi,
well, this is rather "question" for an evolution-list, than to hackers,
but anyway, what is your protocol you are using? I hope it's IMAP. Note
that you can setup evolution to download headers only, and the message
is downloaded only when you open it, like in the preview below the
message list.

In other words, I believe your above statement is wrong, at least for
IMAP servers.
