Well that worked magic for me, things are back to normal, and as an
added bonus this started the filters working on the exchange inbox which
I had given up on getting an answer on.
The filters worked the first two times evolution was running, but they

Installed SLED10 with evolution-2.6.0-49.20. After configuring
exchange setup using ximian-connector-setup-2.6, evolution was
churning on scanning folder... finally came back with a pop-up
window of Error scan folders on exchange x.y.z.
