Senior Injection Molding Engineer
Goleta CA

Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Medical Manufacturing and Quality Operations, the 
Injection Molding Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing 
manufacturing process technologies for our clients.
Primary activity includes applying Injection Molding experience and training to 
implement Quality improvements, Capacity expansion and Cost Reduction Projects. 
Works closely with R&D, Quality and manufacturing locations to implement these 
manufacturing technologies.
Process Technology
Develops specifications and acceptance protocols to purchase production 
injection molds.
Manages vendors in the design, development and implementation of injection 
molds.
Applies six-sigma and lean manufacturing methodologies to optimize injection 
molding processes.
Develops processes by designing and/or performing experimental testing, data 
analysis, preparation of reports, and providing recommendations.
Provides input into project technical strategy.
Working knowledge of scientific molding principals and experience with 
industrial application of such.
Applies BD-standardized manufacturing technologies.
Must be able to develop and execute validations protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ), 
engineering studies and design of experiments.
Successfully manages projects to from design, prototype, and build through 
commercial launch. Required to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and 
close these projects efficiently.
Needs to be able to lead cross functional Teams to successfully define, build 
and validate mold build programs

Knowledge & Problem Solving
1. Define requirements for injection molding processes and automation, from 
concept evaluation through commercialization. This requires creating molding 
specific documents/procedures.
2. Develop specifications for part design (DFM), molding machine settings, 
operating procedures, acceptance and validation test plans and protocols.
3. Cooperatively advises and directs activities of vendors and plant 
technicians to accomplish project objectives.
4. Demonstrates complete understanding of a wide application of technical 
principles, theories and concepts in a manufacturing process technology. Has 
general knowledge of other process technologies. Provides technical solutions 
to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough and 
practical and business core application as well as project management tools.

* Provides status reports to management in a timely basis.
* Follows division policies and guidelines.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Possible travel required up to 30% for short time periods.
* Works with Quality, R&D, Clinical and Regulatory team members to ensure 
successful implementation of projects.
* Works with diverse functions and manufacturing sites to achieve project goals.
* Collaborates with teams of engineers and technicians and coordinate resources 
to achieve project and business goals.
* Provide automation technical support to Project/Process Engineers if 
applicable, in investigations such as: Corrective and Preventive Actions, 
Customer Complaints and Quality Notifications.
* Possible travel required up to 40%.
Any specific industry experience
Medical
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Molding, Mechanical / Industrial Engineer or 
equivalent work experience
