Forwarding emails to an external address

2001-09-19 Thread Huot, Denyse

I'm running Exchange 2000 in an AD environment, and I would like to be able
to forward emails coming into the company to an external address. As simple
as this sounds, I can't seem to find anything on this. Can anyone help or
point me into the right direction?

Much appreciated,

Denyse

RE: Forwarding emails to an external address

2001-09-19 Thread Huot, Denyse

Thanks Ed, I'll look into that.
Would it make sense to do this from the client side (by using the rules
wizard)? It would obviously have to be a server only rule, but I'm
wondering if that makes sense.

You mean for single addresses, not for the entire domain, right? (That
would kind of make the Exchange server useless.) If my assumption is
correct, you're looking to create a mail-enabled contact.

I got nailed too. Not from an e-mail - I currently block all exe's. We
must have gotten it from an infected web page. I already applied the
patch for Code Red last month but my problem is a little bigger:

I can't log onto the server without getting a Dr Watson error for
explorer.exe. The server runs ok, but after I log on and the desktop
comes up it generates the error. I can't even got on long enough to run
anything. I did get the patch applied for the Transversal vulnerability,
but I'm not sure if that helped. Now our network seems to be slowing down
and people are having printing troubles too. Some people can't get their
Outlook open - not enough system resources. . . We're all up to date
with Virus software for Nimda, but the .eml files are still being created
- but not on every machine. Wierd. How do you find the machine that's
affecting the rest of the network? What virus software is everyone using
for their NT servers (not for Exchange, but NT)? Any help would be
GREATLY appreciated.

Exchange 5.5 SP4

2002-01-07 Thread Huot, Denyse

Hi all.
I'm looking for a utility that I can run from another server (other than the
exchange server) to check mailbox sizes and a listing of attachments in each
mailbox. Does anyone know of a utility that can do this with?
I know ExMerge will tell me the sizes of each mailbox, but not the
attachments.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Another product is SRM from Highground which has now been bought out by Sun.

More sophisticated than Active Folders if I remember correctly but also more
expensive.

I have recently implemented it here in our Exchange 5.5 environment. It is
proving very useful for us, probably the main limitation is that it's speed
is limited by the MAPI interface.

It will certainly prove very useful if you want to provide detailed reports
on Attachments etc. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Andy,
Did you end up using this software? Do you know of any other software that
performs similar functions (specifically mailbox size and what kind of
attachments are in each mailbox) to the Active folders? I'm not having much
luck, other than this post from you. I've already posted this (that I'm
looking for it) but figured I'd direct the question to you.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Denyse

Andy Russell at 8/1/2001 5:56:27 AM

I've been looking for exchange monitoring and reporting tools - the only
half decent tool I've found so far is Active Folders by C2C software
(http://www.c2c.com/products/Active_f/default.htm)

Seems to do all the usual stuff like mailbox size checking, looking for
inactive mailboxes, checking stats for public folders, searching for
specific text strings or attachments within mailboxes etc. etc.

My questions are;

Does anyone have any good/bad experiences of this product or C2C software
generally?

Secondly we're going to go to Exchange 2000 one day - does anyone know what
native reporting tools are already in Exchange 2000 - ie. stuff like the
above?

Thanks

Andy Russell

Exchange 5.5 SP4 and W2K SP2

Exchange 5.5 SP4

2002-02-12 Thread Huot, Denyse

We are encountering a really weird problem here and was wondering if anyone
has heard of this/has a solution for it.

I am getting 3 errors:

1. Message processing failed because there is not enough available
memory.
2. An error was returned from the messaging software the Internet Mail
Service uses to process messages on the Microsoft Exchange Server. As a
result, the message in spool 1N6788N9 will be retired when the service is
restarted.
3. A serious error has occurred while trying to send mail into the
Exchange Information Store. The Internet Mail Service is being Shutdown.

From looking up the 2nd error (event ID 4182), it pretty much says that this
problem is resolved by installing the latest service pack (upgrading from
sp2/sp3), which we are already on SP4, so this doesn't help.

What the odd thing here is that the actual message that is caught (eg.
1N6788N9), looks like it is looping. What we found out was that a person
here is talking with her husband (who works at another company) through
email, and they reply back and forth to one another throughout the day,
using the same message. At first, this was only happening with her and her
husband's mail, but it started happening to other people as well (once a
week at least).
From the example from part of the email below, you can see from the
beginning, it is looping. We are not sure why the select few emails, are
showing up like this, but they are, and was wondering if anyone knows why.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Denyse

RE: Exchange 5.5 SP4

2002-02-13 Thread Huot, Denyse

Well, that's what I do, is move the message that is found in \IMCDATA\IN,
and then restart the service. Everything is fine until about a week or two
later when it happens again. We are all curious to know why this shows up
so many times in the TO: field, as it seems to generate so many mailto:'s
when the message is first sent. We thought at first that it was specific
to one person only and that it was a client (outlook) problem, but it has
recently started happening to other users as well. It just doesn't make any
sense.
If anyone has any input to this problem, I'd love to hear more.
Thanks for your response Ed.

RE: password changing

Hyena tells you how many days ago that the pw was changed, and how many days
are left. Maybe you can incorporate something into that.

Hope this helps somewhat.

I submitted this post on the WinNT/2k forums, but w/o reply. Perhaps it is
more of an exchange server related-
I would to know if such a program exists that alerts POP3/SMTP users, that
their Windows NT/2000 user account password is going to expire in X days.
Obviously they will be changing their passwords via the OWA, but is their
any way short of-
running a userdump, extracting system accounts, sorting by age, and dumping
out to an address list based on names?

Is anyone running an email archiving solution (for SMTP) that they would
recommend? (besides mailsweeper/Mimesweeper)

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Email Archive

2002-12-04 Thread Huot, Denyse
I'm not sure why, but none of my postings are showing up...hmmm.
Anyway, my question is this (and I apologize if you have received my
posting already this morning, but I can't seem to locate it):

Is anyone running an email archiving solution (for SMTP) that they would
recommend? (besides mailsweeper/Mimesweeper)
