Re: RE: Problem with accessing a PF
They might be temporarily loosing the network connection which would cause them no longer to be correctly authenticated. OWA probably has a solid connection to that server. But re-logging to the NT domain should fix that. Are the users that experience this problem in the same network segment? Is this particular PF on a different server then the rest of PF's they can access? This has happened to the original user about three times in the last month to six weeks. The user has reviewer permission to the folder through a distribution list, and will still be listed in the DL, but cannot see the contents of the folder. Also, he does not get the error message about not having permission, just, Unable to display the folder. He can, however, read the subfolders he has permission to that are underneath this folder. (and to which he has the exact same rights!) The only temporary fix we had found was to remove the user from the DL, wait for replication to complete, then re-add his account to the DL, but lately that hasn't been working either. Also, giving him reviewer rights by name to the folder does not work. To throw one last curve in, the users can access these folders through OWA. So far, this has happened to three users on the same folder, and a fourth user on a different folder. Any solutions, suggestions or WAGs would be most appreciated. Thanks. The environment is Exchange 5.5 (2 servers, 1 site) and we have OWA running on 1 server. Recently we added another exchange server to be purely the SMTP and OWA server. This server runs on windows 2000, IIS 5 and it is a member server. I have chosen Anonymous and Basic authentication. \ When I try this from office, it works fine. When we try from outside, I am able to the initial logon box, then I get the Exchange logon page. After entering the mailbox name it comes out with another login box. Here when we type the password it again pops with the same box. After 3 attempts you get a blank page. In my office, the same screens appear and it authenticates to the inbox. I am desperate to get a solution for this. Re: RE: OT Upgrade question
You should look into the difference in cost for upgrade to e2k versus purchase of a new license for e2k. Eventually you will have to upgrade as MS will stop supporting E5.5 The deadline for buying an e2k upgrade is 07/31/2002. After that you'll be paying the full price. Talk to your MS contact to find out the difference in upgrade versus whole thing. That alone might be all that you need in your argument. However, if I send from hotmail or yahoo as a test, the mail gets to the user no problems. Access denied does not sound like an error with locating the user name/account by their recieving server. it sounds more like they are not accepting incoming mail from us for some reason. RE: How Organizational Forms Work?
Well, first - do not give disgruntled employees permission to post Organizational forms. Second, password protect all the forms before you post. Keep the password list safe so you can unlock the form. Usually, the developers want to password protect their own forms - don't let them. You need to be in control. The password protection on forms is not the greatest, but it keeps most of the home grown wanna be's at bay. And if you happen to run into a REAL hacker and he has access to your network, Outlook forms will be the least of your problems. _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: How Organizational Forms Work?
From my experience, if Outlook forms are put together by a responsible person with basic knowledge of vbscripting, the forms can simplify a lot of tasks and be used in variety of productive ways. I do not believe they have a high impact on processing other than being usually larger than regular mail. You can replicate Organizational Forms folder across multiple servers to improve performance, just remember that any updates will not be instantaneous for everyone. DO NOT allow your form developer to have access to post forms by him/herself. Always test the form before posting. If you have different clients throughout your organization - for example Outlook97/98/2000 - test the form on all versions. Also based on past experience, hide the forms instead of DELETING them and keep it hidden for at least 3 months. Nothing worse than finding out that they still need it an having to restore just to get it back because no one seems to have a copy of it.
