AutoDL Upgrade
Ok, so I am a little confused now... In the AutoDL 2.1 upgrade it says: Next, run the install program that came with this readme file. This will install the files needed to create the website, COM+ application, and services. It will also have the scripts needed to upgrade the existing AutoDL 2.0 database Yet, there isn't an install program. Any thoughts? There have been very few responses to recent questions concerning the configuration of AutoDL, and I'm just curious if it's because no one uses it. The instructions aren't very clear, at least for those of us (like me) that don't have much experience with SQL or IIS. Thanks in advance! The AutoDL setup and installation doc (I think it's titled The Ultimate Guide to AutoDL) has gone missing. RE: AutoDL
I'll have to check when I get to work (and of course I'll forget) but something tells me I read a bit about it in Jim McBee's _Exchange_2000_24seven_. If not, there's something useful in the pile of papers that helps my desk remain firmly rooted to the floor. My second guess being that I saw it in Outlook Exchange Administrator newsletter within the last several months. It's hell getting old. -Original Message- From: Harmon, Michelle M. RE: AutoDL
I've got a Perl CGI program that lets users manage DLs they own (and have permissions to). It's fairly simple, really, it just lets them add and delete users from a DL, and change the OOF to sender flag as well. It's yours if you want it... For those that are wondering why, our user domain is in mixed mode, so we had to migrate our DLs to another (native) domain because we use DLs extensively for granting access to mailboxes and calendars. Outlook can't change DL membership in such a scenario, since outlook talks to GCs, and GCs have read-only copies of group (DL) membership for foreign domains. -Original Message- From: MS Exchange Mailing List [mailto:MSExchangeMailingList;seniortech.com] Sent: Friday, November 08, 2002 5:41 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: AutoDL Requirements: Web-Based, Easy to Use From what I see in AutoDL, this has the funtionality I need. RE: AutoDL
One thing that wasn't clear in the docs... If the SQL server and the Web server are not the same box, on which server do the COM objects get installed? -Original Message- From: Jeff Beckham [mailto:jbeckham;allfiguredout.com] Sent: Saturday, November 09, 2002 6:33 PM To: Exchange Maillist Subject: RE: AutoDL Solution 1: 1. Open the SQL Enterprise Manager 2. Expand Microsoft SQL Servers\SQL Server Group\servername\Databases\AutoDL\Tables 3. Right click DSDomains and select Open Table\Return all rows 4. Under the Name column, make sure that he NetBIOS name is specified and not the FQDN. Solution 2: 1. Click Start\Programs\Administrative Tools\Component Services 2. Expand Component Services\Computers\My Computer\COM+ Applications\ 3. Right click AutoDL and select Properties. 4. Click Identity. 5. Change This application will run under the following account. from Interactive user-the current logged on user to This user: and specify the Administrator account. 6. Stop and restart the AutoDL COM+ Object Solution 3: 1. Click Start\Programs\Administrative Tools\Component Services 2. Expand Component Services\Computers\My Computer\COM+ Applications\AutoDL\Components and ensure that APSMisc.DataEngine.1 is present. 3. Right click and select Properties\Security. Under Roles explicitly set for selected item(s): Make sure that AutoDL_Everyone and AutoDL_Admins are both selected. 4. Stop and restart the AutoDL COM+ Object You may also have to remove and add APSMisc.DataEngine.1(APSMisc.dll) back. Has anyone got this up and running that could lend me some knowledge? Or other ideas to allow DL management.
