RE: VM Total 16MB Free Blocks
Andrey Have you got the Q number for the article? regards -Original Message- From: Andrey Fyodorov [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 07 February 2003 20:25 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: VM Total 16MB Free Blocks There are articles out on MS Support KB that say that when VM Total 16MB Free Blocks drops below 3, the server should be rebooted. One of my Ex2000 SP3 servers takes about a couple of weeks if not less to drop below 3. In the middle of the day there are ~800 users hitting the server. The machine has dual Xeon 800MHz CPUs and 3GB RAM. There are 2 storage groups, each SG has 5 information stores. Sizes of information stores vary from 5GB to 15GB. The server was rebooted a couple of days ago and VM Total 16MB Free Blocks was 15 after reboot, if I remember correctly. Now it is already down to 7. How valid is the recommendation to reboot when this counter drops below 3 ? _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** This footnote confirms that this email message has been swept by MAILsweeper for the presence of computer viruses. ** ** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. RE: VM Total 16MB Free Blocks
I guess it is not as bad as I thought. Over the weekend the VM Free 16MB blocks went up by itself to 12. Now it is down to 10. I am realizing now that when I wrote takes about a couple of weeks if not less to drop below 3 that it was not after a reboot, but rather after restarting all Exchange services. The server had been running for more than two weeks. -Original Message- From: Andrey Fyodorov Sent: Monday, February 10, 2003 9:34 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: VM Total 16MB Free Blocks this is one of them: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;296073 -Original Message- From: Marc Mearns [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, February 10, 2003 7:46 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: VM Total 16MB Free Blocks Andrey Have you got the Q number for the article? regards -Original Message- From: Andrey Fyodorov [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 07 February 2003 20:25 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: VM Total 16MB Free Blocks There are articles out on MS Support KB that say that when VM Total 16MB Free Blocks drops below 3, the server should be rebooted.
