RE: primary/secondary mx
Even though this is off topic, its fairly easy. Leave sendmail running on the Linux box (but remove any alias file entries that you might have used for local delivery), and make sure that it has an MX record with a higher preference number (lowest number is always tried first). Viola. As long as there is a higher preference (ie lower number) MX record, sendmail will queue and forward for that domain. -- Roger D. It all works fine, but I have been asked to make the linux server a fallover or secondary mx as our exchange server is running on an ADSL that is a bit temperemental. If the ADSL goes down I would like the old mail server to pick up and deliver the mail. I have no idea on how to do this. Could anybody help?? RE: primary/secondary mx
On your DNS server, in the MX record itself. -Original Message- From: Dean Clark [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 15 January 2002 16:34 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: primary/secondary mx thanks! - um without meaning to sound stupid, where do I set the MX preference number?? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Roger Seielstad Sent: 15 January 2002 16:18 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: primary/secondary mx Even though this is off topic, its fairly easy.
