RE: exchange server freezes
It sounds like a hardware issue. If you are seeing hardware related errors in the event log, you are probably looking at flaky memory. If you don't see any errors, it is possible that your processors are getting tired. If you have identical hardware, try swapping parts (assuming you run enterprise-class machines and swapping parts won't destroy your server altogether [1]). If you don't, try scheduling some down time and run hardware diagnostics. Of course, read the DR Whitepapers, take two backups and prepare for DR before you do any of that. S. [1] In English: don't try this on Dell hardware.[2] [2] Personal opinion based on experience. Please don't turn this into a Dell rocks/Dell sucks thread. -Original Message- From: Don Ely [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2002 12:37 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: exchange server freezes Hey monkey boy, what kind of server hardware do you have!?!?! RE: exchange server freezes
You don't mention how it stops...Is it a BSOD? or what. I had similar problems where it would lock solid but still answer a ping which I traced to a faulty RAID card...it happened during the backup. I have also had a corrupt pagefile do this. Only solution was to move pagefile to a different partition, delete the old one and move back to original location.
