I simply want functionality and that’s it! However according to my son, if he doesn’t get *the latest model*, his social life will be dead and he probably will be an outcast for holding that hands-me-down number! Do I have to get him a new mobile, every time the fad changes? No, not if something like the Infinite Sustainable Mobile Phone pops up. Here is a sustainable phone that promises to last you till infinity. Going by the storyboard that designer Will Orrock has presented, his idea doesn’t seem too far fetched to perceive. Two big points to ponder: Layers and Upgrade. Layers: The phone follows the 4-layer concept and comprises of battery, OLED screen wrap, high-strength polymer housing and printed circuit board. These four layers are the core of the phone and can be tackled individually. Organic Radical Battery is the choice for powering Infinite. This is to take advantage of the eco-friendly form that doesn’t use natural heavy metals found in conventional batteries. Using ORB also makes the form-factor of the phone slim plus the added bonus of faster charge time (expected to be between 30 seconds to 2 minutes) makes it attractive. Orrock says that the OLED layer needs to be backed by a tungsten layer in order to operate. The screen also covers most of the phone, hence it blends into the environment and hopefully future generations will still find it kewl! The Polymer Housing cavity is thus fashioned that you can easily access the PCB and the battery. All the layers of this phone can be either broken down to replace upgrade or recycle individually. Upgrade: Both the hardware and the software of the phone are envisioned on the fact that they can be easily upgraded to match the current market trends. Naturally the discarded parts will go to the recycle bin. I guessed not, hence this Sign Language Translator will be the apt solution for you to transcend borders of gesture-based communication. The device is neat and easy; a no-fuss pendant with a sensory camera that captures the hand motions. Translating the gestures into voice modulations, it makes it possible for an impaired person to communicate effectively. A choice or pre-recorded voices adds a bit of funk to the device. To operate the Sign Language Translator one has to click the bottom part to expose the speakers. To increase the volume, just open the speaker wider. To turn it off, just click it back and shut it. I call the Light Flower a good design, because it follows this norm to the T. If you must light your garden pathway, it may as well be with this illuminating flower. Autonomous and sensitive, it harnesses wind energy effectively to power itself. The super-sensitive propeller rotates even at the slightest breeze, tanking up the energy for the light, for later use. A light sensor switch ensures that the light automatically switches off during daytime and comes on at dusk. Intelligent, sensitive, smart and autonomous…almost sounds like my man than this Light Flower! Designed to support 5 other connections, the power sockets can be stacked and built to work around the ungainly wall-warts our devices demand these days. It catches the eye, it enthralls the mind, it lies in the water existing only to be beautiful. All of these fancy qualities were necessary in order for designer Sait Alanyali to come up with this whimsical tea set. In the same way that the mind blooms on the refreshing taste combinations of the tea, the flower expands, open to welcome back the empty cup again - cradling it as you leave it once more in the bosom of the pedal bed. Whafty, yes? Sait imagined a world where the spoon would no longer fall to the middle of the plate. To resolve this problem, he turned the plate into a flower. It is called the “Nilufer Tea Set.” More parts to clean and a prettier world - one feels disinclined to argue for or against this solution.
