Hello, I had exactly the same issue as https://lists.exim.org/lurker/message/20180423.131248.84fe31d9.en.html#exim-users with ubuntu 18.04 amd64, and exim4 from apt repository (tried versions 4.90.1 (bionic), 4.91 (cosmic) - result is the same). Never met this before upgrade of the server.
