There is a problem with the gdm and consolehelper program that I have been investigated, but I cannot figure out what it's going on. The symptoms are the following.
If you use gdm as your session manager, then consolehelper stops displaying the dialog about root entering root passwd. for example yo type as a normal user
%shutdown
The funny thing is that if you use kdm or xdm everything works properly(for example typeing shutdown prompts for a root passwd). Even starting sessions with startx make it works (I have to say that working with kde it is not a problem because it uses kdesu program).
I have been looking for a solution but I don't understand the problem So the question is what have to do the gdm with the session? Probably it is a problem of the pam configuration but I cannot devise the complete scene....
Did anyone have this problem...?
