Re: database version problem

By the way, I updated the plugin to work with regular expressions:
http://github.com/catchin/MergeVersions and
http://pholog.de/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/mergeversions.zip

And afterwards found out that such a plugin already exists ;)
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342138

So at least I had some programming exercise...

Rather than munging the character escapes manually, I would expect
that there are encoding/decoding methods that will give you the path
in a usable form.

Probably this is because "%20" is not recognized as blank (" "). As a
(quick and dirty) fix, can you try to add the following at line number
62 (right after "string original_path = ..."):

original_path = original_path.Replace ("%20(" +
version_names[j].Replace(" ", "%20") + ")", "");

This should probably be better done using regular expressions. Is on the
todo list for the next version ;).

Hi Fabian

I finally got round to re-importing my photos .. I tried to install by copying
MergeVersions.addin.xml  and MergeVersions.dll to
~/.gnome2/f-spot/addins/ (where there is already a
FSpot.SyncMetaData.0.5.0.0 directory), but nothing shows up in the
Tools menu.

I see that SyncMetaData features in
~/.gnome2/f-spot/addin-db-001/addin-data/global/FSpot.SyncMetaData,0.5.0.0.maddin
and other places .. does MergeVersions need to be registered somehow?

I'm using F-Sport version 0.5.0.3

Re: database version problem

2009-08-20 Thread Heinrich Münz
Thanks for writing this plugin! I just followed the link and found the
description. It looks like it searches for the word "modified", so it
won't work with other language settings than english. I am using F-Spot
in german translation, and the different versions of my photos have
german names as well, e.g. "img_6654 (Bearbeitet).jpg" or "img_6654
(Bearbeitet in GIMP).jpg".
So wouldn't it be better to do the search with regular expressions? I am
no coder, but I guess it won't be that difficult, because there are
always brackets in the version filenames.
