Will Rogers, who died in a plane crash with Wylie Post
in 1935, was one of the better sages this country has
known.
Enjoy the following gems of his 'Cowboy Wisdom':
* Never miss a good chance to shut up.
* If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging..
* A fool and his money are soon elected.
* A holding company is a thing where you hand an
accomplice the goods while the policeman searches you.
* All I know is just what I read in the papers, and that's an
alibi for my ignorance.
* America is becoming so educated that ignorance will be
a novelty. I will belong to the select few.
* Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're
paying for.
* Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggy" until you can
find a rock.
* Don't let yesterday use up too much of today.
* Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you
just sit there.
* Everybody is ignorant, only on different subjects.
* Everything is funny ..... as long as it's happening to
somebody else.
* Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of
experience comes from bad judgment.
* There are three kinds of men:
The few that learn by reading.
The few who learn by observation.
Then, there's the rest of us who have to pee on the
electric fence and find out for ourselves.
ABOUT GROWING OLDER....
First ~
Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying
about your age and start bragging about it.
Second ~
The older we get, the fewer things seem worth
waiting in line for.
Third ~
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not
me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've
traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
Fourth ~
When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back
to youth, think of Algebra.
Fifth ~
You know you are getting old when everything either
dries up or leaks.
Sixth ~
I don't know how I got over the hill .... without getting to
the top..
Seventh ~
One of the many things no one tells you about aging
is that it is such a nice change from being young.
Eighth ~
One must wait until evening to see how splendid the
day has been.
Ninth ~
Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
And finally ~
Learn to laugh at trouble. If you don't, you won't have
anything to laugh at when you are old.
Best wishes,
