IMU, according to the Vedic theory of speech, the main function
of consonants is to provide transition from one vowel of diphthong
to another.

It might be that the original creators of Vedic hymns were
Siberian shamans, or stuff. Thus, the "famous" Samic joiku
(yoi-coo) might be related to Vedic hymns. In joiku the
main transitional consonants are 'k', 'n' and 'l', like 

nunnuka nunnuka loilaa loilaa

IMO, 'l' is by far the most frequent of those three.
So, the first line of Rgveda as a joiku could be

lalin liilee lulolilan
