Had multiple socioeconomic and political causes coming to a head after the 
Black Death of the 1340's.
 The painting shows Richard II trying to subdue the rebels, but Wat Tyler, one 
of the leaders, was killed.  By Nov. 1381 the rebellion was disbursed while 
1,500 of the rebels were killed.
