I wonder what it means to plead "guilty of wounding"?

Court rewards schoolgirls £200 for helping attack victim
 Three 13-year-old schoolgirls who intervened when they witnessed a man being 
being attacked in a river have been commended by a crown court judge. 
Mold Crown Court heard how in October 2014 the girls saw a man being punched 
and stamped on in the River Gwenfro in Wrexham. 
They shouted at the attackers who then fled the scene and kept the victim warm 
until an ambulance arrived. 
Judge Niclas Parry said that each girl should be paid a £200 reward. The 
attackers Paul Loose, 24, of Tanycoed, Wrexham, and Ryan Roberts, 18, of 
Tanybryn, Wrexham were initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. 
But their guilty pleas to wounding were accepted. Loose was jailed for 28 
months. and Roberts received 20 months youth custody.
