Top Scientists Being Sought for Research on CookÂ’s Synthetic Species

Study Should Help Clarify for the Scientific Community, Public Whether His
Discovery of Synthetic Life is Valid
Inventor, Independent Researcher has Announced Willingness to Allow for
Qualified Candidates to Test His Solution and Synthetic Species Claims Firsthand
  COLUMBUS, IN—September 12, 2007—COLUMBUS, IN—September 12, 2007—Independent
researcher, Jeffrey Noel Cook, published his findings on YouTube.com last
month, where a series of six videos demonstrated what appears to be the process
of spontaneous macroscopic life forming from non-living chemicals in real time.
Three weeks now from the time of this maintained discovery, he is finally
willing to share some insight into the process to a qualified team of chemists
and molecular biologists in order to validate his claims.
Before this discovery, no one has officially synthesized DNA, transcribed to
RNA in order to form living cells that are functional, despite the billions of
dollars of funds being granted to the study to date. If CookÂ’s claims in fact
turn out to be substantiated, this accomplishment would surely bring the study
of the chemistry of life, as well as even perhaps the theories behind the
origins of life to a brave new level.
“I will be hand-picking the team of scientists myself for this study,” said
Cook. “I am looking first for a coordinator of the project, one who has their
background in business and/or project management, as well as skills in grant
writing. After this individual is chosen, he or she, as well as myself, will
review resumes and conduct conclusive interviews for the full scientific team.
Careful background checks of course will also be in order. I want a team of at
least three scientists with PhDÂ’s, but no more than ten. I am looking at this
time only for candidates with doctorate-level credentials, as my lacking
credentials are enough for the team already I would think. The scientistÂ’s
must be credited in the fields of chemistry or molecular biology or perhaps
even more directly, Synthetic Life. I also will need a web designer ASAP.”
Further qualifications include the following: must be willing to relocate to
the Indiana State University area for a period of one week (initially) once
funding is secured, must not be involved contractually with any other Synthetic
Life groups and/or institutes and all candidates must be US citizens. However,
there will be an exception for just one scientist from the EU to be included as
well, provided there are at least three US scientists already involved.
Lastly, all participants will need to sign a handful of non-disclosure
agreements and other paperwork, including one document that allows Cook to have
the study filmed for a documentary on the finding, which is already underway.
For candidates wishing to apply for the coordinator position, they must sign
up with Mr. Cook personally through the Synthetic Life Group at Yahoo! Groups.
The next phase will include an online application form, linked from the
Synthetic Life Group, where scientists can submit their resumes for their
involvement. The coordinator position, however, is open for interviews
beginning tomorrow morning, Thursday, September 13th, 2007.
For those seeking additional information on this topic, feel free to join the
Synthetic Life group at Yahoo!: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/syntheticlife.
