unknown". Ven Xing continues: If there is something to be known, then this 
knowing is confined and limited.  Therefore, only  knowing without any objects 
of knowing can truly exhibit "nothing is unknown". Similarly, the third state 
in the Silent Illumination practice is described as "without contacting things, 
it knows".  What is means is that, as long as there are objects that can be 
ontacted by you, then what can be known is limited.  It would not be "nothing 
is unknown"  It would, indeed, not be True Knowing. [end quote by Venerable Guo
