'Feeling the universal energy flowing through the body; notice where it may be tight or stuck, and just be with the feeling; see what images or release comes.. Don't mentalize the process, just keep it on an energy/feeling level. From my experience, however strong I feel 'presence' or pure consciousness, in my awareness, then that's how strong the influence of healing feels; So, the essence is the ability to maintain the 'light within' And however bright this light within becomes, That is how healing or all-pervasive it feels to BE. IT AIN'T THAT , BABE! In July 1992, while driving back to Hartford with a friend after the Tribute to Woody Guthrie concert in Central Park and listening to Bob Dylan, my companion made some comment about the song It Ain't Me, Babe. It seems that somehow his remark and the lingering inspiration from the concert set me thinking, because a few days later I suddenly came to an startling insight into the meaning of the song's lyrics. The song has been understood variously as a cynical love song or as referring to Dylan's relationship with his audience; however, it is actually a political song. It clearly refers to the war in Vietnam and to the American flag, which the poet lets go from his window (Go 'way from my window), subsequently falls on the ledge (Go lightly from the ledge, babe), and finally to the ground (Go lightly on the ground); the verse Leave at your own chosen speed is a poetic description of the swinging motion of the falling flag. The lines To protect you and defend you/Whether you are right of wrong refer to actual battle situations and to the then raging dirty war; the same theme of the unjustness of the war we find again later: Someone to close his eyes for you, Someone to close his heart (a rather unusual request coming from a woman, to say the least). The verses Someone who will die for you and more and Who'll pick you up each time you fall should be construed literally and not metaphorically. To come each time you call refers to calls to arms, not to phone calls. The promise never to part implies court-martial, not divorce court. Only the flowers in the verse To gather flowers constantly should be understood metaphorically, as referring to military medals. Finally, the beginning of the third stanza: Everything inside is made of stone./There's nothing in here moving denotes the absence of patriotic sentiments in the heart of the poet, something, however, shared by draft resisters and others with

It is an effort to demoralize and divide the resistance to the occupation. It has nothing to do with justice or truth. All the political forces internationally that have opposed the 15-year-long U.S. war on Iraq--which has included starvation sanctions, bombing and invasion--should also oppose all the efforts to justify the continued occupation, including the present trial of the former Iraqi leader and seven members of his government. We love you Sara! With articles like yours and the Cindy Sheehans, Nancy Pelosis John Murthas et al, middle America can take a good hard look at who is lying and telling the truth and who really has the best interest of the country in mind. Poor Saddam! just a good 'ol boy never meanin' no harm. Dear MDixon6569. I would like to clarify the my main reason of posting IAC's statement is to expose the members of this group to alternate views, not readily available through the mainstream US mass media, by making use of the wonderful electronic medium. My personal opinion as a historian, in case you are interested, is that history's verdict will be that Saddam Hussein was a mediocre Third World leader, not clever enough not to be deceived into believing that US would help him prevail over Iran and that US didn't mind if he invaded Kuwait. His and the Baathis party's internal record was mixed. On the positive side was the nationalization of the mineral wealth of his country and the use of the profits, at least in part, to raise the health and education level of his people, as well as the social position of the women. On the negative side, he was undoubtedly ruthlessness against his enemies. But in final analysis by far the the main indictment against him is that he did not learn from his experience of the Iraq-Iran war and fell for a second time in the intricate trap we had set for him (named most appropriately by Middle Easterners Operation Desert Trap), bringing eventually, through the US invasion, untold suffering to his people, and necessitating a second heroic anti-colonization struggle. Finally, the beginning of the third stanza: Everything inside is made of stone./There's nothing in here moving denotes the absence of patriotic sentiments in the heart of the poet, something, however, shared by draft resisters and others with similar antiwar sentiments (And anyway I'm not alone). When I realized that It Ain't Me, Babe was an antiwar and not a love song, I first imagined that I had rediscovered by myself something every young person in America in the sixties had known. But when I asked friends, and then when I checked the Dylan bibliography, I realized to my surprise that no one before had considered the most obvious, once of course you think of it, interpretation: Anthony Scaduto thinks that Dylan tells Suze and all women that the search for an illusory Hollywood-romantic love, ... has turned him into stone (Bob Dylan: An Intimate Biography, 1971, pp.110-111). [FairfieldLife] The lines on Sri Swamiji's feet and their significance explained
Life History of H.H. Sri Swamiji 164 The following important devotees, Anantarama Bhat, Nagappa Setty, Nagappa, Anantaram of Vishnu coffee works, Narayana Rao of Mysore press, Ramaswamy, Rama Rao (Father of Krishna Moorthy), Gowda together went and finalised the deal. They gave an initial deposit of Rs.2,000/-. Few days later, they raised the rest of the amount totalling Rs.9,000/- and on Monday, 28/3/1966, registered the land. It was also the auspicious occasion of the period of Sree Rama Navami. At last the place for the new ashrama was obtained but it did not have a proper shelter to live in. For the next two months, several devotees offered voluntary physical labour to clear the site. A number of youngsters and old people joined hands in working. The devotees residing in the nearby colony of Vidyaranyapuram were the majority of the volunteer workers. Swamy had taken the trouble in the past year or so, of organising the events at the house of Mudaliar in Vidyaranyapuram. It paid dividends in the form of few hundred of true devotees from the area that gave their services to Swamy. Swamy personally supervised the work by coming once or twice daily to the site. He normally came by car but when it was not available he walked nearly 6 km in the heat of summer. Occasionally he came on a horse cart. Whenever he arrived at the site, he could always see few devotees working. A number of devotees were patiently awaiting his arrival at the site daily to get his blessings. The footprints One day Swamy was amidst a number of devotees at the site and was delayed in returning to the ashrama at Kesere. It was getting late and so he said to the devotees, Please arrange for transport to go back to the ashrama. A devotee is especially awaiting my arrival there. True to what he said, Chinna Urs was awaiting the arrival of Swamy. He had some articles in his hand. As soon as he saw Urs, Swamy asked him, Are the articles OK? They have been prepared as per your instructions, he replied. In the presence of all the devotees assembled there, Swamy took out the article. They were a pair of special sandals. They had imprint of ivory dust on them. Swamy checked the imprints with the plans he had given to Urs. While continuing to observe the marks, Swamy pointed to the various marks and explained about their significance. See these marks, he told them and explained. 1. The three chakras on the right foot underneath the three toes are different shapes. The letter Bhoo, Vi and Sri are written on them. They represent the signs of the present of Bhoodevi, Sridevi and Lord Vishnu(3). 2. Joining the three chakras there is a line in the form of a wave. Underneath the wave is a star. The wave and the star together represent the energy of the Prakriti. 3. Just underneath the above two marks, are the signs of two snakes. One of them represents the symbol of the power of Yoga Siddhas. The other one represents the power of the Navagrahas. The line of Navagrahas is also known as Vajrarekha. 4. Below them, near the heel there is an unusual chakra. It is Agastya Chakra. You will not understand its significance and its benefit even if I tell you. On the left foot, these are the signs that are present. 1. Underneath the toes there are again three chakras. The one that is straight is Agastya chakra. Presence of Agastya chakra in both the feet is of rare occurrence. They represent the powers for uniting and separating. There are some more special features but it is enough for now. 2. The chakra in the middle is Dattatreya chakra. You do not need to know its significance. There are two letters A and Shanti. It means Akhanda Shanti(4). When they are seen as such they give the wrong interpretation of Ashanti(5). There is another special point to note of this Avatara. Joining the three chakras is the line of the power of the Prakriti. Below it is two more rekhas, Trishula(6) and Velayudha rekhas. These are symbols of the Divine Power. Below it there is a special Yantra(7). In that are situated, Ganesha Khanda, Surya Khanda, Amritasarassu(8), and Srichakrabindu. These represent the procedure for the Srividya. I should not say anything more at this stage. At the heel of the left foot there are, Chakram, Triangle and Shivalingam. Together they represent the main Bija Akshara(9). What else can I say? Swamy Abhedananda saw these lines on my feet that day and gave his predictions. --- Explanations: 3. Bhoodevi is the Mother Earth. Sridevi is Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmi. 4. Unbroken Peace. 5. No peace. 6. Trident. 7. Diagram. 8. Lake of the nectar of immortality. 9. The root letter OM http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sacredlifeofswamiji/ This Yahoo group contains the complete story from the beginning . Never mind, forget it, it doesn't really matter, only a fool would ever expect to change your political, and historical, views without looking for root causes, and you are taking good care of that yourself by meditating regularly. Speaking of war, over the weekend I was thinking about war and 9/11 and Iraq and Vietnam, and the rising consciousness reflected in communications, transportation, and market-oriented global unification. A hypothesis began to form in my mind, catalyzed by an earlier FFL discussion on the effects of an enlightened person on their environment. So, if we assume many enlightened and almost enlightened people dissolving global boundaries, and moving our Earth and its people in the direction of Oneness, we can see that specific rajasic domains have moved quickly in that direction, hence the huge interconnected growth in computer (voice, video and data) networks, transportation networks, and global markets. That being the case, we are now rushing headlong in the direction of more and more unification. However, not everyone's consciousness is ready for this unification. Or more precisely, not everyone's consciousness is wanting to move towards enlightened unification. For those, the alternative is dark unification. What do I mean by the phrase, 'dark unification'? The dynamics towards global oneness are the same for those wishing dark unification- they use the same tools and technology, and bring about rapid change the same way. Only their guiding principles are control vs. union, force vs. cooperation, and striving for individual grandeur vs. sacrifice for the good of all. It is a fascinating play taking place now on the global stage, one in which we all have front row seats, due to near instant communication. The question posed as we watch this unfold, is, which unity will we experience, Light or Dark? We can see how efforts towards dark unification are now met with increasing resistance, because the overall tendency towards global Oneness is putting unprecendented tools into the hands of small groups of people, rendering the previous models of mighty armies, security forces, and controlled media all but obsolete. This battle betwen light and dark, enlightenment and ignorance, self vs Self will continue for a little while longer, leading to oblivion and full unity, either way. Yahoo! [FairfieldLife] Datta Jayanthi message
SRI DATTA JAYANTHI CELEBRATIONS Sunday,14/12/97 Photos of Various events of this day Sri Swamiji conducted Sri Chakra Puja and Ganapati Homa as usual in the morning. Then Sahasra Kalasa Tailabishekam was performed to Kalagni Shamana Datta in the temple of the Ashrama. Following the Pavana Homa and Datta Homa were performed. Many people participated in the Anagha Vratam. The following message was given by Sri Swamiji. We are all tiny specks of the Universal Lord - Paramatma. Though He is unseen, He is invisible. His magnanimity is beyond our comprehension. We have drifted far, far away from him. No doubt we are precious, being tiny specks of the Supreme Lord. We are like various precious Ornaments glued to something impure, something undesirable. Seeing our sorry state, our miserable condition, the merciful Lord came down to uplift us, to rescue us in the form of Dattatreya, the unique spiritual master of all times. He is an expert goldsmith. He can remove the dirt and impurities of the ornament, without spoiling it in any way. He makes it fit for decoration of the Lord. This means he purifies and guides us properly to rejoin the supreme Lord. A capable master and a patient disciple - this is a fine combination. Dattatreya is an expert spiritual master. He is the perfect master. Less efficient goldsmiths spoil the ornament. Datta does his job thoroughly well. He is the Guru not only for humans, but also to celestials and demons. What?! - Guru for even demons? Yes! He slowly transforms the demons and leads them to the right path. A real Jnani, knower, does not boast of himself. Whoever makes such an announcement is a cheat. By Guru's grace the disciple gets salvation in a subtle way, even unknowingly. People are attached to worldliness, that is the cause of their misery. Sadguru cleanses us by making us perform different rituals properly. Contemplate on the divine play of Datta. Study Jnana Vasishta, which deals with the principle of renunciation. Datta is the trinity in one - Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva in one form. He directed sages to perform Pavamana Homa, which removes sins, and bestows peace and plenty. All the Devotees were enchanted in the musical discourse in the evening. The following is His message. I. Datta's protection Swamiji explained the meaning of Sanskrit Sloka. He recited thus: His Body is still as He is in ecstasy. However, He moves about daily in several subtle forms to protect and guide his disciples everywhere. Hence I surrender to Datta, who is both, moving and unmoving. Datta's only mission is to uplift the disciples. Sri Swamiji rendered a song emphasizing the protective power of Datta (Jaya janavana chitta). II. Generally people say that they are fighting for peace, even at the cost of life. This is self- contradictory. Who can a battle cause peace? Our thoughts and words and deeds should not hurt others, no insult or injury should be caused to others by our behavior. Before you aim at world peace attempt at inner peace of mind yourself. Then there will be world peace. What all we do at home generally causes tension and worry. You behave in peaceful way with you friends and relatives. The way you keep your things, books, clothes, utensils in your room and home should be neat and proper. This brings in peace of mind and peace at home. Gradually the peace spreads around. Swamiji sang one sloka and one bhajan conveying the above ideas. III. Swamiji sang a bhajan of Janardana part of Maharashtra and explained its meaning. The saint sings the glory of Rama who is all pervasive. By singing the pious qualities of God again and again, one acquires such noble traits. IV. Swamiji rendered a bhajan and described its significance. Before one goes to bed, one must analyze the mistakes committed in the day. Seek God's pardon with repentance. Do not feel proud of good achievements. Thank God. Think of God just on getting. People convince themselves for their mistakes. No mistake can be committed in secrecy, you cannot hide anything wrong. The five elements of nature, sun, moon, etc. are witnessing your deeds. Even if others point out, some adamant people don't repent, they do not apologize. This is wrong. Whatever good or bad we do - everything is recorded by Chitragupta, the celestial accountant of sin and merit. You cannot deceive him. Some people do many good things, but a single big mistake overshadows what all good they have done. Self-analysis enables them to correct themselves. Early in the morning, more so before sunrise, the mind will be pure and active. For spiritual practice, music practice or studies this is the most preferable period. Gradually the mind gets tired with the passage of daytime. Mind is affected by the heat and strain of the day. Hence, utilize the dawn and early morning daily in a purposeful way. Sound sleep is very essential for good health. One must go to bed

The promise never to part implies court- martial, not divorce court. Only the flowers in the verse To gather flowers constantly should be understood metaphorically, as referring to military medals.

Yes, your point is a valid one, and I don't know what Dylan said about this song. [FairfieldLife] Where do you stand on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, now?
Globally, the neutral value of rajas has sped up considerably in the last fifty years or so, as evidenced by the explosive growth of technology. It is definitely growing at an exponential rate (Moore's Law, et al.). That global activity is currently being used for good and ill. So, why the global speed up of rajas? It appears to be moving from a tamas-rajas orientation to a rajas-sattva orientation. Just that-- the global reorientation of the three gunas, from one dharma to the next, is the explanation; less drag = greater momentum = faster pace of life. What has changed in the last fifty years is the global growth of sattva in the earth's atmosphere. Like releasing the brake on a wheel, this has caused the freeing up of rajas, to allow for a more instantaneous translation of thought energy into material existence, supporting both positive and negative purposes. So when the declaration of Sat Yuga was made recently, it indicates that a global tipping point towards rajas-sattva had been reached, extinguishing the dominion of rajas-tamas. [FairfieldLife] Re: TMO threatens South Florida teacher and magazine
Reply from Mike Scozzari to magazine publisher 12/7/05 Natural Awakenings Magazine Palm Beach Edition Editor and Publisher Dear Leah, Thank you for forwarding me the letter sent to you by Mr. Goldtein. The letter is an unfortunate and clumsy attempt to intimidate and embarrass you and your magazine. There is in fact no substance to the absurd allegations made by Mr. Goldtein. I am a fully trained and qualified and bona fide teacher of Transcendental Meditation and have been operating as such for the last 33 years. I have thousands of my students and clients in the South Florida area. I am well known to TM teachers in South Florida and to fellow TM teachers both Nation- ally and abroad. My advertisements have been placed in the Palm beach media since 1990. You may forward this letter to Mr Goldstein'. Kindly tell him that his assertions that I am in infringement of the service marks in question does not necessarily make it so. If Mr Goldstein feels that there has been some infringement, his remedy surely lies in bringing the matter before a court of law -- not in complaining to you. If such an action were brought by him I along with many other TM teachers with whom I am in contact would be strenuously and vigorously contesting his allega- tions in a class action suit. As a self styled copyright attorney Mr. Goldstein ought to know that copyright matters are often complex and can only be decided by a court oflaw after carefully hearing both sides. Mr Goldstein should be told that a magazine such as yourself cannot be expected to get involved in complaints of this nature and that you have no intention of getting involved simply on the basis of his alle- gations. They are at best his point of view on the matter. If and when the matter has been decided by a court of law in his client's favor then and only then should he approach your magazine in the manner that he has. Until then, you can take no action on his unsubstantiated allegations. That is the end of the matter so far as your magazine is concerned. Indeed, this is the only position you can fairly take in the circum- stances. Were you to take action on Mr Goldstein's allegations you would be doing a great injustice to legitimate clients like myself who have been doing business with you for a considerable period of time. I am looking forward to my advertisement being placed in your magazine and my continuing association with you. I close with Season's Greetings to you and the staff of Natural Awa- kenings Magazine, Sincerely, Mike Scozzari cc/legal council Dear Fairfield Lifers, There's a lot of misinformation being bandied about in the discussion of this situation here on FFLife. I live a mile from this teacher, Mike Scozzari, in Boca Raton Florida. I've met him and talked with him. I'm on his e-mail list for announcements about his TM activities. I see his ads in the local new age magazine that I pick up when I shop at Whole Foods. I've also met the local recertified TM teachers and heard them discuss their interactions with Mike since they arrived here. Without making any judgments about either side, here are the facts and impressions I've gathered locally: People tell me that Mike Scozzari was one of the founding TM teachers decades ago in the southeast Florida area (Miami). He did his teacher training course in 1972, and did a lot of TM teaching here in the good old days. Apparently he became a Governor (took the TM-Sidhis program) somewhere along the line. When Maharishi's focus changed away from ini- tiations, and the local center(s) here closed up, Mike continued to try and teach TM and had trouble adjusting to all the new stuff. When the price of TM increased in the 90s, he balked, and set his own pricing. When I first moved here a couple of years ago from Fairfield, I saw his TM ad. So I went to his advertised location for the introductory lecture, to introduce myself to him, to check him out, and to see what kind of local meditating community there might be. He told me that he'd been renting this conference room in a local Kinko's on Federal Hwy. in Boca Raton every week for quite a while. He'd advertise an intro lecture, and show up - but he admitted to me that hardly anyone had ever attended. The night I came to meet him, it was just he and I, and we talked and got to know each other for over an hour. He told me that he's married, and he's a traveling sporting goods sales- man by day. He said that he had some interest from a couple of companies to do an in-house TM presentation, and maybe a course, for them. I men- tioned that I'd helped design the old TM business program (AFSCI), and taught it in Chicago in some big companies, and I'd be happy to be of ser- vice (even go with him to give the presentations without any compensation). He politely thanked me

On Dec 12, 2005, at 3:23 PM, Michael Dean Goodman wrote: Reply from Mike Scozzari to magazine publisher 12/7/05 Natural Awakenings Magazine Palm Beach Edition Editor and Publisher Dear Leah, Thank you for forwarding me the letter sent to you by Mr. I men- tioned that I'd helped design the old TM business program (AFSCI), and taught it in Chicago in some big companies, and I'd be happy to be of ser- vice (even go with
