[FairfieldLife] Re: Spirituality

2017-09-03 Thread emily.ma...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
You have included a number of things here as examples of how you are defining
"spiritual."

MMY was Hindu. In Hinduism as in Christianity, the existence of a personal
"soul" is assumed. So, are you saying that all persons are spiritual because
they have a "soul" and a "birthright" to discover it's natural attributes of
peace and bliss?

Of course, the Buddhists do not believe in the "soul."

 From Wikipedia:

Anatta is a central doctrine of Buddhism, and marks one of the major
differences between Buddhism and Hinduism. Buddhists do not believe that at the
core of all human beings and living creatures, there is any "eternal, essential
and absolute something called a soul, self or atman".[5]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatta#cite_note-6sourcesatman-5[6]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatta#cite_note-johnplott3-6[119]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatta#cite_note-129 Buddhism, from its earliest
days, has denied the existence of the "self, soul" in its core philosophical
and ontological texts. In its soteriological themes, Buddhism has defined
nirvana https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana as that blissful state when a
person, amongst other things, realizes that he or she has "no self, no
soul".[5] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatta#cite_note-6sourcesatman-5[120]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatta#cite_note-130

Are Buddhists "spiritual"? They do have a practice.

Perhaps, as indicated here, all those who acknowledge that they have a
conscience and are following it are "spiritual."

When Thomas Jefferson wrote:"Laws of Nature" into the Declaration of
independence, he was referring to an Enlightenment concept deeply rooted in
Western philosophy. In later writings, Jefferson elaborated:
Nature has written her moral laws on the head and heart of every rational and
honest man, where man may read them for himself. If ever you are about to say
anything amiss, or to do anything wrong, consider beforehand you will feel
something within you which will tell you it is wrong, and ought not to be said
or done. This is your conscience, and be sure and obey it... Conscience is the
only sure clue which will eternally guide a man clear of all his doubts and
inconsistencies.

Are you saying, finally, that those that engage in a spiritual practice, such
as prayer, are "spiritual," by virtue of their practice?

Exegesis keeps the Bible relevant. :)

All told, it seems that "for spiritual people" boils down to:

 1) All those with a soul, which in your belief system means *all people*
 2) All people that consider their conscience in decision-making
 3) All people that engage in prayer and meditation

In that 2 and 3 are subsets of one, it appears that "for spiritual people"
means "for all people" based on your definitions posted here. That's what I
thought also!

In 1957, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi said of Spirituality that: 'Spiritual
development is the birthright of everyone, for it is the unfoldment of the
essential nature of the soul, or inner consciousness…. Soul is the individual
property of everybody. It is the natural and inseparable possession, nay, the
very existence, of every man. Everybody has the right to enjoy his own
possession. Everybody has the right to enjoy the sat [truth] chit [Being]
ananda [bliss] nature of his own soul. In the most natural manner, everybody
has every right to enjoy permanent peace, bliss eternal, which is the nature of
his own soul.' -- Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Thirty Years Around the World—Dawn

Scientifically, stopping to pray may not be as effective as taking a
'quiet-time' or 'quiet-in' meditation, according to the Bible..

Matthew Ch:6 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when
thou hast shut thy

And Fairfield, Iowa also , not a bad place at all in what might be the Kim Jung
Un wars. if N. Korea launches even one strike against either SF or Seattle
judging by the weather streams the air patterns would take the fallout either
below or above the Southeast of Iowa and Fairfield, Iowa.
..the country had conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test,
detonating a hydrogen bomb that could be loaded onto a long-range missile.
North Korea claims "perfect success" in hydrogen bomb test ..Hydrogen bombs
are many times more powerful than an atomic bomb. They use fusion - the merging
of atoms - to unleash huge amounts of energy, whereas atomic bombs use nuclear
fission, or the splitting of atoms.

[FairfieldLife] Kim Jong Un has Shakti Yoga

2017-09-03 Thread jr_...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
Shakti Yoga is a dreaded planetary combination for the person to do evil in the
world. Hitler and Mussolini had the same combination. It is formed by the
conjunction of Rahu and the Moon in the 5th and 9th houses from the lagna. In
Kim Jong Un's chart, his lagna is in Mithuna and Moon is placed in Kumbha or
Aquarius. Rahu is placed in Vrishaba or Taurus. Thus, both grahas have a
Jaimini aspect on the 5th house of Tula. Thus, he has a valid Shakti Yoga.
The grahas are aspecting the malefic planets of Shani and Mangala. So, his
Shakti Yoga may be qualified due to mitigating circumstances..

Due to North Korea's nuclear test, I have now changed my opinion relating to
Kim's chart using Nadi Astrology. Using Nadi criteria, Kim's chart shows the
Rahu/Moon conjunction is not conjoined with any malefic planets. Mars has
moved to Virgo. And Saturn has remained in Libra. But Saturn is exalted and
benefic in Kim's chart. So, the evil nature of his Shakti Yoga is confirmed.

2017-09-03 Thread dhamiltony...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
Technically in Maharishi's founding and with Hagelin and others having worked
directly alongside Maharishi they would be first generation of ™ and their
working now (post-founder) to consolidate things towards a (demographic)
turnover at some point to second generation meditators, who have never directly
seen or met Maharishi. Thus far the microphone has not been shared or handed
to a second generation to hold nor is a second generation much present in upper
level policy circles.

---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, wrote :

Of “second-generation” wisdom.. as Noyes frames it below, Will John Hagelin
now of his own ‘first-generation’ wisdom turn out to be the consolidator to
something that may last some decades more? ..

“At the time when Noyes was alive (19th Century) any marked deviation from the
established churches of Christianity was likely to provoke a vigorous reaction.
Consequently initiators and leaders of sects had to be men of exceptionally
strong character, especially if they were evangelically minded, for then they
had to be capable of keeping the allegiance of their original members and of
winning converts even in the midst of antagonism or actual physical
persecution.

A fanatic might get this far, might indeed get further, as Ann Lee got to
America from Lancashire and Joseph Smith got to Nauvoo; but other qualities
were required in order to maintain the initial impetus. As well as the
absolute conviction that they and they alone had chosen the right path, and the
ability to persuade others that this was so, leaders of this kind needed
exceptional organizing ability and foresight, balanced judgment, and a quality
that can best be described as “intuitive astuteness”. Joseph Meacham, who
organized the Shakers into communities, and Brigham Young, who commanded the
Mormon hegira, must have been endowed with these qualities; and no doubt other
examples of “second-generation” wisdom of this kind could be cited. It was a
characteristic that was less common among initiators,

'second-generation' wisdom, ..simple vision, the strength of character and the
evangelical fire of the fanatical initiator were blended with the balanced
judgment and practical managerial capacity of the successful consolidator.
This was an unusual combination of characteristics; and in view of (his)
background , his absolute rejection of orthodoxy was also unusual.

..He was extreme, but logical and realistic; revolutionary, but not violent.
When religious fire, moral courage, and good judgment ..have all been given due
credit, something remains unexplained--some ingredient of the personality--. I
think that this unnamed quality can without sentimentality be called “love of
life.” ..I believe Noyes, unlike many sectarians, was a great yea-sayer, an
enhancer of life,”

Invitation for weather Respite is extended to Californians too.

Southern California’s heat wave should peak by Friday. But in Northern
California, triple-digit temperatures are expected to continue through the
Labor Day weekend. That’s worrisome because there are already more than a dozen
wildfires burning in the Sierra Nevada, and smoke is settling in the populated
valley below.
Record heat, lightning, fires, intense rain: California's extreme weather gets
wilder.

[FairfieldLife] Strategies that may help reduce the harmful effects of Electromagnetic Fields

2017-09-03 Thread email4you mikemail4...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]

Strategies that may help reduce the harmful
effects of Electromagnetic Fields,
which Causes Massive Mitochondrial Dysfunction,
Though Experts Claim It Is Safe.
So who are you going to believe about your
health:__
..
insider experts who want you to believe it's safe regardless of science, or the
flurry of recent
studies suggesting it's far worse than we've been
led to believe?
Don't be a sheep led to slaughter:
Decide for your well-being today.

Story at-a-glance_
Exposure to microwave EMFs, like cellphones, causes massive mitochondrial
dysfunction due to damage done by free radicals from peroxynitrite that also
cause single and double stranded breaks in your DNA
Excessive free radicals triggered by low-frequency microwave exposure from
cellphones and Wi-Fi networks have been linked to chronic diseases such as
cardiac arrhythmias, anxiety, depression, autism, Alzheimer’s and infertility
Excessive calcium signaling produced by EMF exposures also has important roles
in producing pathophysiological effects of EMFs including each of the effects
listed above___
Strategies that may help reduce the harmful effects of EMFs include optimizing
your magnesium level, certain Nrf2-boosting foods, exercise, calorie
restriction and strategies that boost nitric oxide signaling (which acts, in
turn, by raising Nrf2)

[FairfieldLife] Iceland, soccer, TM and stuff...

2017-09-03 Thread he...@hotmail.com [FairfieldLife]
(Just killing time. Sorry for the clumsy English!)

It's nothing short of mysterious that the Iceland soccer team can be so
successful.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M5_WBOCKXs

My impression is that TM, perhaps still or again, is quite popular in Iceland.
At least the local TM center looks very nice:

 http://www.ihugun.is/ http://www.ihugun.is/

Perhaps that's why Iceland soccer team is next to invincible, at least amongst
countries
whose population is about the same, that is some 325 000 people!

Seem to recall that some people think the Edda is somehow related to Veda,
way more than other peoples' national epics.

Well, a Finnish TM teacher claimed Maharishi having said, when visiting
Finland,
that the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, is local variation, or something
like that, of Veda.

It's good to keep in mind that the word kalevara in Sanskrit means body, and
brahma suutras
are also called shaariiraka-suutras, that is, bodily suutras!
