The Srimad Bhagavatam tells a story of the placement of the Moon in the
nakshatra of Krittika. It is considered to be location where a rishi saw a
goddess/apsara in a lake, and he fell in love with her. It is believed that
when the Moon transits this nakshatra, one can see this goddess in a dream.

Vedic astrology is a lunar based system. Interestingly the calendar in India
is based on the nakshatras. Each month is named after the nakshatra the full
moon occurs in for that month. There are references to the nakshatras in the
Rig Veda, one of the oldest Indian scriptures dating approximately 1,500-2,000
