For the United States, an Islamic Caliphate is a severe threat to the dollar and to national security, as ISIS could abolish the Petro-dollar agreement America has with OPEC and the Saudi government, and in addition, could potentially cause a new oil crisis as ISIS already controls several oil fields within the state of Iraq. http://www.examiner.com/article/a-hundred-years-after-start-of-wwi-the-ottoman-empire-returns On 8/4/2014 1:03 PM, jr_...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife] wrote: With the successful attacks by the militants in Kurdish lands, the various political forces in Iraq could and should now rally together to get a unified country for the sake of its own existence. Re: [FairfieldLife] ISIS, the Unifying Force for Iraq
Richard, The article's point has merit. It is obviously advantageous for the USA to eliminate ISIS in the Middle East. But Obama is committed not to use American troops to settle the political situation in Iraq. As such, he is and will be reliant on the success of the Iraqi government to keep their own house in order and to defeat the threats posed by ISIS. If the current Iraqi government fails, Obama has no choice but to send back the Army troops to protect the American interests, namely the homeland safety, and the stabilization of oil prices and supply. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, punditster@... wrote : For the United States, an Islamic Caliphate is a severe threat to the dollar and to national security, as ISIS could abolish the Petro-dollar agreement America has with OPEC and the Saudi government, and in addition, could potentially cause a new oil crisis as ISIS already controls several oil fields within the state of Iraq. http://www.examiner.com/article/a-hundred-years-after-start-of-wwi-the-ottoman-empire-returns http://www.examiner.com/article/a-hundred-years-after-start-of-wwi-the-ottoman-empire-returns On 8/4/2014 1:03 PM, jr_esq@... mailto:jr_esq@... Re: [FairfieldLife] ISIS, the Unifying Force for Iraq
Richard, Obama and his advisers apparently think that Iraq has the capability to defend itself and defeat the ISIS militants. They are letting the democratic process to do its work, to be understood and practiced by the Iraqi people, as it should be so. If the militants are on the verge of a major attack of Baghdad, I believe Obama will send the American drones and warplanes to bomb the militant convoys and hideouts. If this doesn't work, Obama will send back the American troops to defeat the militants as they will surely be a threat to the region, Europe and the USA when they become the overlords of Iraq and Syria. Lest we forget, he still has the congressional authority to use force and defeat the enemy in Iraq. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, punditster@... wrote : On 8/4/2014 1:03 PM, jr_esq@... mailto:jr_esq@...
