Until we turned around and pointed at the wall and said

 That picture from out honeymoon
 That night in 'Frisco Bay
 Just give it away
 She said give it away

That big four poster king sized bed
Where so much love was made
 Just give it away
She said just give it away

 [Chorus]
 Just give it away
There ain't nothing in this house worth fightin' over
Oh, we're both tired of fightin' anyway
 Just give it away

Oh, I tried to move on
But I found that each woman I held
Just reminded me of that day

When that front door swung wide open
 She flung her diamond ring
 Said, give it away
 Just give it away

 And I said, now honey
Don't you even want your half of everything
 She said give it away
 Just give it away

 [Chorus]

So, I'm still right here where she left me
Along with all the other things that she don't care
about anymore
 Hmm

Like that picture from our honeymoon
 That night in 'Frisco Bay
 She said give it away
Well, I can't give it away
That big four poster king sized bed
Where all our love was made
 She said give it away
Well, I can't give it away

 I've got furnished house
 A diamond ring

Maybe so, but it's not really about who is cuter - it's about the
music and the playing. Most of the time I don't even know what the
players look like until years later when I see them live, on TV or read
about them. Listening to the radio I've no idea what they really look
like - I just like the tunes or the melody. For me, it's just not about
the personalities. Having said that, Faith Hill and Trisha Yearwood are
pretty easy on the eyes. LoL!

Part of the history of pop music was the ASCAP strike and the rise of
BMI. Since radio stations had nothing to play during the strike they
went out and found unsigned country and folk artists and formed BMI.
Some of the acts weren't that good so gave country music a bad name.

Wow - I didn't realize you Jimi Hendrix fans had such sophisticated
taste in music. LoL!

But, don't be sorry. There are many European rock music fans that don't
quite get country music. Many don't realize the genesis of rock - it's
just uptempo folk and country music, with rockabilly and blues added in
for good measure. When I was a teenager, I was really into Elvis Presley
- I had all his records and we used to spend hours listening to his
songs and going to dances in High School. I still have at least six
Elvis vinyl disks. It didn't take me long to realize that Elvis was pure
country with a beat. I mean, you don't get much more country that
Memphis, TN!

I'm pretty selective in my country music tastes. But, having come of age
listening to Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, and then CSNY, I've come to
appreciate folk and country music more and more over the years.

Rockabilly has it's roots in North Texas and spread out from there to
become rock and roll. Almost all the great rock musicians have cited
country artists as their inspiration. Country music and rock is mostly
about heartbreak, falling in love, and music you can dance to.

And, don't forget Lonnie Donegan and his skiffle band in the UK - they
were huge back in day - 1955!

She was stormin' through the house that day
And I could tell she was leavin'
And I thought, 'aw, she'll be back.'
Until we turned around and pointed at the wall and said

  That picture from out honeymoon
  That night in 'Frisco Bay
  Just give it away
  She said give it away

That big four poster king sized bed
Where so much love was made
  Just give it away
She said just give it away

  [Chorus]
  Just give it away
There ain't nothing in this house worth fightin' over
Oh, we're both tired of fightin' anyway
  Just give it away

Oh, I tried to move on
But I found that each woman I held
Just reminded me of that day

When that front door swung wide open
  She flung her diamond ring
  Said, give it away
  Just give it away

  And I said, now honey
Don't you even want your half of everything
  She said give it away
  Just give it away

  [Chorus]

So, I'm still right here where she left me
Along with all the other things that she don't care about anymore
  Hmm

Like that picture from our honeymoon
  That night in 'Frisco Bay
  She said give it away
Well, I can't give it away
That big four poster king sized bed
Where all our love was made
  She said give it away
Well, I can't give it away

  I've got furnished house
  A diamond ring
  And a lonely, broken heart
  Full of love
And I can't even give it away

One of my favorite Straight songs, Amarillo by Morning, is regarded by
many as one of the greatest country songs of all-time. Billboard ranked
Strait No. 1 in the top 25 country artists of the past 25 years.

According to the RIAA, Strait is the 12th best-selling album recording
artist in the United States overall, with 60 number one hit singles. Strait
was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music. He was
inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and won his first Grammy
award for the album Troubadour. Strait was named CMA Entertainer of the
Year in 1989, 1990 and 2013, and ACM Entertainer of the Year in 1990.

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

All My Ex's Live In Texas
 http://youtu.be/RNWF6eJr81k

All my ex's live in Texas
And Texas is the place I'd dearly love to be
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee

 Rosanna's down in Texarkana
Wanted me to push her broom
 Sweet Eileen's in Abilene
She forgot I hung the moon
 And Allison's in Galveston
 Somehow lost her sanity
And Dimple's who now lives in Temple's
Got the law looking for me

 Chorus

I remember that old Frio River
 Where I learned to swim
But it brings to mind another time
Where I wore my welcome thin
 By transcendental meditation
 I go there each night
But I always come back to myself
 Long before daylight

All my ex's live in Texas
And Texas is the place I'd dearly love to be
But all my ex's live in Texas
 Therefore I reside in Tennessee

 Some folks think I'm hidin'
It's been rumored that I died
But I'm alive and well in Tennessee

Ace in the Hole by George Strait

George Strait and his band, all local boys, are known for performing
songs that sound just like the record album. A very tight band, great
voice, and simple songs with great lyrics. This is an example of modern
country, not honky-tonk corn. One of my favorites:

Patsy Cline

She was one of the most influential, successful and acclaimed female
vocalists of the 20th century. Her hits began in 1957 with Donn Hecht's
Walkin' After Midnight, Harlan Howard's I Fall to Pieces, Hank
Cochran's She's Got You, Willie Nelson's Crazy and ended in 1963 with
Don Gibson's Sweet Dreams.

'Crazy' written by Willie Nelson, one of the greatest country classics of
all time. Willie Nelson was born in Abbott, Texas, and wrote songs that
would become country standards, including Funny How Time Slips Away,
Hello Walls, Pretty Paper, and Crazy. I've seen Nelson perform at
least six times in live venues in Austin, Texas at the Armadillo World
Headquarters and at the Annual Fourth of July Picnic. Nelson lives on Onion
Creek in South Austin.
