On Face the Nation yesterday, former vice president Dick
Cheney said this, in part,in response to a question from
Bob Schieffer about whether he regretted any of the
actions the government took after 9/11:

"...Now, if you'd look at it from the perspective of a senior
government official, somebody like myself, who stood up and
took the oath of office on January 20th of `01 and raised
their right hand and said we're going to protect and defend
the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic,
this was exactly, exactly what was needed to do it...."

Here's what the actual oath he took says:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and
defend the Constitution of the United States against all
enemies, foreign and domestic..."

Notice the crucial difference?

Schieffer didn't, apparently, because he didn't mention it.
