Maharishi came from one tradition but he is transcendental to all traditions. He cannot be defined by any one tradition but rather all traditions can be understood in the light of his teaching. He is like the sun shining on all equally. Nothing is really worthwhile without the light of the sun. This is not a matter for debate but will be self evident to all soon enough.
