I understand that former Manson Family members are some of the richest prisoners in the US system, owing to their notoriety. It doesn't do them any good as they can't access the (ill-gotten) gains while they are incarcerated. And no way is Charlie ever going to be released.
But if he were to marry "Star" she would presumably inherit his wealth when he kicks the bucket.
