[FairfieldLife] Re: Bevan's girls! Read this!

2008-01-26 Thread suziezuzie
Looking back on those MIU days during the 70s and early 80s it's easy
to understand why there was a frequent sexual exchange going on.
First, the community was small, the selection pool was limited so
dorky guys and gals who had it tough in high school did better at
MIU. Next, since there was common ground of TM experience and
philosophy, this kind of legitimized the process between partners.
Next, since we were unstressing, especially on courses, what better
way to relieve stress than to go out and get a good screw by simply
walking the dorms and halls of [EMAIL PROTECTED], the woman's dorms, the men's
dorms, etc. Selection of partners was promoted by the ebb and flow of
Being, it all just worked out naturally. And then there were the good
looking people, the teachers, the administrators of power, etc.,
which gave them a 'leg up' on the whole process. But it was fun
because as a natural extension of TM, it just seemed to flow as a
part of that natural process, meet someone, go to bed, and then meet
someone else. It's not like it was an orgy at MIU because the basis
of the whole thing was really nice people. We all got along really
well.

not that anyone does care but first hand I can tell you when I moved
to FF in 1978,79 or 85 cant recall which time I was in then Kramers
card shop and ran into Linda Dimick. We had done a course together
in 76. I was not too friendly just said hello as we were really not
close friends or anything but she was overly friendly that day.

She has been a bad girl on our 6 month course sneaking out alot at
night with another gal to bar hop. She was dismissed from that
course and got back in the good graces of the movement by marrying
Dennis Ramondi.( not her reason for marriage but I guess it helped
in the end at that time) Anyway that is another whole story but I
think she was being defensive when she saw me in town and right away
offered up that info perhaps she felt I had heard she and Bevan were
together well she said maybe you have heard about me and Bevan ,
it is true. He calls me and Annie ( then a small child) every night
from around the world.
I never knew the meaning of this . Perhaps they were very close but
not romantic or sexual she just said they were linked for sure. I
never asked her about it again and recall at the time being shocked.
You have to remember the times this was almost 25 years ago or so.
So there you go on that story so credible truth . What the nature of
their relationship I dont know and never did find out. She must have
been then separated or divorced from Dennis and not yet married to
Michael and I dont have the time line on that one. Our course where
she was the bad girl was 76 or so and I moved back to FF on a few
occasions and cant recall when that was , someone else might know
her more personally and know the time line of that. But she did at
some point between marriages have some level of a relationship with
Bevan and as only she can do she boasted about it or defended
herself ,not sure which, that day in Kramers book store. Even
thought in the years that followed we were friendly around town I
never asked her about what she said that day, as it seemed in the
past and like you say ,who cares. I recall at the time being rather
shocked at what she said and that she would bother to say it to me
we were not close.

Does one regret the affairs?

Are some or all affairs secret -- from ones spouse, from friends?

Were some partners married at the time?

Was one themselves married at the time?

Are some or all on the list false?

Do the affairs contradict ones public statments on morality, thus

Would the list embarass or confuse ones or others children?

Is ones identity or value tied to what others think of oneself?

Is the discomfort stemming from a sense of loss -- the exposure of

Does it matter what the intent of the poster is? Thats is, if the same

The reason it bothers me is that some of those women are friends of mine and
I find it hard to believe they would have had affairs with Bevan. So for
someone to anonymously accuse them of having done so is a cheap shot. If the
person had provided some explanation as to how he had come up with the list
of names I don't think I would have had the same reaction. But it seemed he
just threw together a list of prominent movement ladies.

Incidentally, I had a dream about Bevan last night. It was like we were
rooming together. I was eating breakfast and he was washing up. We had a
friendly conversation in which he confided that his health wasn't too good.
There was a good feeling between us. I doubt that such a conversation could
take place in real life, but it did many times 30 years ago.

If someone had instead posted a list of the men that

bet we'd be thinking of her as the accusee, not the men.

This isn't directed at you, Rick. I mention it because
I'd been thinking of the original list as a slap at
Bevan--since we had been slapping Bevan around--and
then effortlessly slipped into the opposite view, that
the list was objectionable because it shamed the women.

As we used to say back in the day, Click!

Either way, the list is objectionable. Or rather,
it's objectionable both ways at once.

Just to lighten the discussion up (hopefully) a
little, here's another. My first thought on
reading it was, Wow, I wish I'd had this list
back when I was still in the movement. :-)

***

Michael took Kevin along with him to confession for
moral support. Kevin waited in the pews while Michael
approached the confessional.

Forgive me father, I have sinned, I have been with
a woman.

Ah Michael, sighed the priest, you have grieved
the Holy Spirit. Tell me, was it Mary McCarthy?

I can't tell you, father, answered Michael, I
promised I wouldn't say, but forgive me, I have
sinned, I have been with a woman.

Michael, this is not what you have been taught by
Mother Church. Was it Sinead O'Rourke?

I can't say, father, I promised I wouldn't, but
forgive me, I have sinned, I have been with a woman.

Ah, Michael, your poor mother and father would be
heartbroken to know this. I wonder, was it Philomena
Donnelly?

I can't tell you, father, I promised, forgive me, I
have been with a woman.

Michael, my son, I harboured such high hopes for you
when you were an altar boy. Tell me, was it Therese
Murphy?

Father, I can't say, I promised, forgive me father,
I have sinned, I have been with a woman.

The priest pronounced, Michael, you must say 50 Our
Fathers and 30 Hail Marys.

Thank you, father, a relieved Michael acknowledged,
and went back to the pews where his mate Kevin was
waiting.

Michael, Michael, what did the father say?

He gave me 50 Our Fathers, 30 Hail Marys and four
good leads.

a bit unbalanced with respect to pursuing other / additional things in

Some women might be proud to be on the list. Some women might have

Some, including some on the list, or their friends, might think the

I wonder if a list of the deceptions and odd power-power tripping by

My questions here, as elsewhre, are not arguments in disguise. They
are simply questions. Questions about underlying assumptions.

I get the thrust of your observations Akasha. I
called it nasty because of the discomfort it would
cause me if somebody listed all the women I had
allegedly screwed with the implicit point of, I guess,
shaming or embarassing me. I'm assuming that is the

There are some conversations that are undeniably improved when the

the 1995 case McIntyre v. Ohio Elections Commission, just the threat
of lawsuits would have a chilling effect on free speech. And it is
worth noting, too, that the Delaware court reaffirmed the notion
that however distasteful - even stupid - one might find the speech
on Internet blogs and bulletin boards, at least some of it belongs
to an honorable tradition of advocacy and dissent.

Its easy to see why people see the note as nasty.
 Its harder to
understand the nature of nastiness. To try to do so,
 some may see that
as thinking too much. Perhaps it is. And some feel
 quite comfortable
to live with unexamined assumptions. Or are
 oblivious to them. I am
unclear as to which is more moral.

I get the thrust of your observations Akasha. I
called it nasty because of the discomfort it would
cause me if somebody listed all the women I had
allegedly screwed with the implicit point of, I guess,
shaming or embarassing me. I'm assuming that is the
 post of the poster/re-poster.

And my concern, if it wasn't obvious, wasn't that Bevan might be shamed,
which he probably deserves to be, but that half the women on that list might
be innocent, and some most certainly are, and shouldn't be listed like that.
It doesn't take much thought or honesty to cook up a list of prominent
movement ladies and post it anonymously to a chat group.

Isn't this an old post? Like two years ago? I know he was involved with some
of these women but I doubt very much that he was involved with others. Is it
fair to list them like this? Who originally posted this?
