Sharalyn Thank you for making a donation to help fund a Maharishi Yagya to support the passage of California Proposition 37 requiring the labeling of food containing GMO. In the first 2 days of this campaign, just under $2000 has been donated by 28 people including you. Your donation is deeply appreciated. Every donation big or small expresses the same concern that the labeling of GMO in food is of utmost importance for the well-being of everyone. If for some reason we do not achieve the required amount the monies raised will be applied to the next National Yagya for the United States. As of Saturday morning we have had 121 visitors to the site, most from the USA. Visits to the site have also come from Great Britain, Netherlands, Germany, India, Ireland, Portugal, Japan, Norway, France, New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland. Proposition 37 is an International issue. We still have quite a ways to go to meet the required amount ($10,000) necessary to have the Yagya performed, but we are working very hard to achieve the target. To be more precise, we will have several graha shanti's performed for the Political Action Committee identified as most likely to have the greatest affect on the campaign during the remaining days before Nov 6. Graha Shantis are performances done to improve specific planetary influences that may be restrictive. Our original goal was to raise $50,000 for a Yagya for the entire state of California but the deadline for that was too short for this type of fundraising. We still have our hopes that an Angel will step forward to make that happen. The dangers of having GMO in the food stream have been recognized by the over 60 countries which have put some form of ban on GMO. By contrast, in the United States the Agri-biotech industry has positioned itself to control not only the invention, implementation, and distribution of these products but the scientific assessment of their effects on public health and the environment, and the governmental regulation of them as well. This is starting to change with a formal Senate inquiry into the policy making process in the FDA on the labeling of GMO now underway. A Yes outcome on California Proposition 37 will greatly speed up the creation of more effective regulation at both the state and federal levels. This wouldn't be the first time that big business spent a lot of money to try to defeat a proposition and yet it passed. Despite the way they behave sometimes I don't think most Californians were born yesterday and hate it when they see obvious propaganda. They defeated a proposition which oil companies poured lots of money into which would have increased pollution. And the ads against Prop 37 try to target that it is a poorly written law, etc. Well even if it is it is a start. The big food companies will put anything into food that doesn't kill you.. immediately. We really need to know what is in our food. Then it is time to boycott all the companies who sponsored the anti-37 ads. After all, if they can put a notice that food was processed on a machine that also processes items that are allergic to some people then they can put a notice that the product may contain GMO sources. I don't recall them raising a stink about the allergy notices.
