England's paper Statistical Physics of Replication attached to this post. Really interesting idea, although I cannot follow the math. The paper was published in 2013. More recently he and colleagues have started to test the ideas in experiments, reported as Statistical Physics of Adaptation, which is the second paper (2014 pre-print version) attached to this post. In that second paper, his team's first reference citation in that paper is from a work by Richard Dawkins, whose main scientific career was evolutionary biology.
