I haven't watched SNL in years. I don't know anyone who does.

I understand that Robin Williams is an acquired taste, but

Paris this morning.

It's formula TV comedy, but it's Robin Williams. IMO, if
you like his schtick, it's well worth the 30 minutes (20 in
my case because I watch it without the commercials)
just to see him again.

Heck, it's worth watching just for the last minute, which
consists of outtakes in which Robin cracks everybody up
or just wings it and takes the script off into outer space.

He plays the manic owner of an ad agency, with Sarah
Jessica Parker playing his more uptight daughter, trying
to keep him in line. Good -- and funny -- supporting cast,
too. At a rate of several true LOLs per 20 minutes of
viewing time, I give it a thumbs-up.

I haven't watched Williams series and if there is a laugh track I'll
turn it off. That is so passe. I do recall the commentary on the
Richard Matheson film he did where they talked about shooting Annabelle
Sciorra and different times that then reverses with Williams. Sciorra
one required one take and Williams as many as nine.

And old friend of mine with to college with Williams in Marin.

I was going to cut the cable this week (and technically may well be)
but the U-Verse deal at $50 which is half my Comcast bill for TV is too
good to pass up and would buy me time to do things like replace my 13
year old HD set with a new one which can supply more streaming options
due to HDMI inputs where I can use Roku and Chromecast or maybe just the
latter (at $35) will be enough.
