Most people come to FFL to get TMer movement news - they don't come here to dialog with anyone about the mechanics of consciousness, or not. Once they see that there are no insiders posting any new information, they move on in about five minutes and never come back. It's not complicated. I've been reading this site for 15 years and I hardly ever get any news about the TMer movement, except an occasional post from Rick Archer or Dick Mays. The informants running this place already chased off the two TMers that regularly meditate in the Patanjali dome. There is only one single real TMO insider posting anything here that's TMer news information - almost all the rest of the informants on FFL know less than I do, because they got kicked out of the TMO, and so they don't get the latest news, they only read and post unsubstantiated rumors about personalities they once knew in the old days. I'm about a mile from the Maharishi Golden Dome in Hays County just outside Austin, Texas, and I know many TMers still on the program that live in the area and at the TM Ideal Village at Radiance, so I probably know more than just about anyone on this list. The most prolific poster on this forum hasn't been inside a TMer Golden Dome or TM Center in over 50 years. Speaking of which, a few of the series I have been watching ended recently, so
I'll try to give them a quick review:
* Justified. Magnificent, start to finish. It will be missed.
* Banished. Very good, FAR better than I expected, even after finding out it
was created by Jimmy McGovern, the same person who created Cracker.
* 12 Monkeys. FAR better than I expected, or even could have expected. One of
the best TV series of the year.
* Fortitude. Too bleak for many here, but it's a tremendous mystery tale told
slowly and lovingly in one of the amost amazing settings ever -- 500 miles
north oflc Norway inside the Arctic Circle.
* Better Call Saul. Better than anticipated. Proof that Breaking Bad was
not an accident.

I can only take so many 6 act TV episodes so I often like to finish off the evening with a movie. The Babadook is a well done Australian horror film about a mom who finds a mysterious child's book that keeps showing up in her house. Now available on Netflix WI. And I liked Preservation which is a smartly done variation on the folks get lost in the woods pursued by killers in masks. The film was written and directed by Christopher Denham, who most would be familiar with more as an actor who appeared in the WGN America series Manhattan. One familiar face in the film is Aaron Staton who played Ken in Mad Men. Probably a bit too gory for some here. Also on Netflix. I'm waiting to see if 12 Monkeys makes it to Netflix in a month as they played about 4 episodes on Hulu then required you login with your cable provider to see the rest. That really ticks Hulu+ members off. They did the same with Dig. Also will be seeing if Fortitude shows up somewhere other than buying episodes in about a month. Why a month? Because that is usually the OnDemand window for many cable services before it goes to streaming like Hulu or Netflix. The Continuum final season will be six episodes. Netflix will probably have it too. I didn't like that for some reason the final episode of Justified played in poor quality 720p on Amazon. Hulu usually even looks better than that. I suspect a lot of people were hitting that stream. This is why I've started buying episodes on Walmart owned VUDU which has the best HD streaming and maybe their server is here in the SF Bay Area. The CW is launching another supernatural series called The Messengers this evening so will be checking that out. Otherwise I have guests arriving tomorrow who don't like to watch TV so will be on a viewing hiatus for a few days or watching after they hit the hay. They stay in their RV so late night viewing won't disturb them. I have to admit it is Rick who is responsible for my Netflix viewing. He mentioned years ago about watching Netflix streaming on his Samsung Bluray player. So I decided to get one since that model was fairly inexpensive. My first Bluray player was not but I picked it up on sale when the HD DVD vs Bluary war was on the holiday season of 2007. Problem with the Samsung is that it doesn't have the Amazon app. I happen to have a Sony Rewards card and had enough points for a free Sony S480 player so got one and it has Amazon on it. Then the apps stopped getting updated and the player locking up so had enough points again to get a Sony S1200 player free last fall. It has all the new apps on it. Now one of my favorite TV series was the well produced UK Utopia. I bought the region free Bluray from a local online acquaintance who want to sell it but let me try it first before buying. I would not run on the Sony player but does on the Samsung so glad I kept it around. For some reason that Bluray still uses a PAL encoded video stream which is why the Sony players reject it. Sony company weirdness. I have several Bluary discs that are US made but are region free. This is something that studios wanted so they only needed to make one version for the entire world on some titles. We have tech geeks and entertainment fans on FFL. I also know some folks from other paths who are big movie and TV fans. Also have to admit that it is something that the highest paid CEO in the world is the founder of GoPro, the company that makes those little HD cameras. Gotta be marketing. I first got into hybrid cameras years ago with the Aiptek series of which I owned three. Now you can buy HD cameras for $20. The GoPro is a bit expensive but popular with folks who like to put them on drone copters or when they ride their bikes or even trikkes. I dislike shows/movies and books that purport to show history but in fact are
made up bs, or to put it more charitably the producers stretch/change history
so that the show is made up bs.
To wit: the social/political structure which serves not only as a backdrop to
the Vikings series but provides the motivation for some of the pivotal events
was non-existent in Nordic societies in that time. It is in fact the
social/political feudal society that existed in medieval England, not Viking
society.
That plus the clothing/costumes depicted are inaccurate, as are the lack of
armor and some of the weapons, and the fighting style (shields were primary
weapons, swords secondary and most Vikings always used shield/sword combos) not
to mention that they play very fast and loose with the historical facts. For
example, the depiction of the Vikings not knowing the whereabouts of England
UNTIL the Lindisfarne Abby raid is COMPLETE bs - the Vikings knew the location
and had already made trips there for THREE HUNDRED YEARS.
