Whoever tells the best story about solving these problems-- but primarily the economy--will win.

Also, the movie starring Robert Redford about a presidential candidate [The Selling of a President(?)] may have addressed your point. After being elected president, he asked his handlers at the end of the movie, "what I do now?".

I'm more of the opinion that the candidate who casts the most effective occult glammer about the economy and the war will be the winner. Americans love to be wrapped. Politicians are occult wrappers. The best wrapper wins.

Gee, I thought it was pretty clear from my posts. My ideology hasn't changed, but the Democratic Party is no longer in tune with it. The Dems took over Congress in 2006, but not a damn thing has changed; they're still kowtowing to the Republicans. Then the Democratic leadership decided to go with Obama instead of Hillary even though his commitment to progressive goals is as thin as dishwater. And his supporters behaved abominably toward her and her supporters, as they are now behaving toward Palin, as thuggishly as I've ever seen any Republicans behave. It isn't that it's "all about Hillary"; it's not. What they did to her is a *symptom* of how the party has degenerated. That's the short version.

Look again mainstream. Those polls ran Monday-Wednesday. A bump in the polls is the norm the day after the convention ends. I have confidence that Obama will win this election, despite the tendency of Democrats to find a way to lose. He has demonstrated sound judgement managing the campaign to date. I have steadily growing confidence that he will be a great leader for the country. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, "Tom" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, "sparaig" wrote: > . > > > > There is also yesterday's CBS poll, which gave Obama a 48%-40% lead. > > > > CBS Poll: McCain, Obama Tied > McCain Closes Eight-Point Gap From Poll Taken Last Weekend > > http://tinyurl.com/5cnlp8 > > McCain's Acceptance Speech Draws Bigger Audience Than Obama's > > http://tinyurl.com/629yft > > > I find it interesting that the hysterical mudslinging that > has occurred here on FFL is never followed by any > retraction as the charges are disproved. Don't wanna scare ya, Tom, but I'm in total agreement. I'd just add that *exactly* the same thing happened when he was running against Hillary in the primaries. (Not dreams of gangbangs or nude pictures, natch, but the reverse type of sexist insult.) > Defeatocrats continue to hone the ability to snatch defeat > from the jaws of victory. Unbelievable. I assume you're a Republican. I'm a progressive (albeit no longer a Democrat). Interesting that we both have the same take on the current happenings, despite, I gather, profound ideological differences.
