Or, that the records would eventually wither away in outer space without being 
discovered by any intelligent beings.
 

 Be cool if the Voyager probe is all the remains of humanity - a thousand 
different ways of saying Hello and a Rolling Stones track! They can't say we 
didn't try!

Thxwas MMY talking about consciousness as intelligent life (say, as 
intelligent as humans); or, was he referring to "Pure Consciousness"?   (since, 
for example, a rock is Pure Consciousness but is not intelligently conscious).  
It's obvious that PC is everpresent in the universe, but the question of 
intelligent life is an unsolved question.

 According to MMY, consciousness is everywhere in the universe, even in empty 
space.  John Hagelin speculated that the tremendous potential of empty spaced 
is shown in the power of dark energy which powers the accelerating expansion of 
the universe.
 

 But matter in space eventually evolves into self-awareness, such as those 
exhibited by human beings.  As such, it is possible for self-aware entities to 
develop anywhere in the universe which are able to reach higher consciousness, 
specifically unity consciousness.
