The 'end of the world' idea originated with Zoraster, 
the radical dualist that lived BCE. It was his 
origninal idea that the world would come to an end 
after the arrival of a savior to win the battle 
between good and evil.

This radical eschatology has been inherited by all 
of the Abrahamic religions, Jewish, Islamic, Gnostic, 
and Protestant, through Mani. 

The first historical world religion was 'Mazdaism', 
sometimes called Zoroastrianism, the religion of 
Ahura Mazda: a firm belief in a transcendent God.
