I have appreciated using a bookmark to quick look at the goings on of FFL on
the homepage, being able to follow and and also search subject threads there
within the webpage interface. This also freed up my email account.

A value in FFL was in its archive of first-person posts from a larger
community. Those evidently will disappear in a shifting the burden of hosting
content to the client?

The problem is many read Yahoo Groups on their phone browser.  They
probably don't want to deal with email on their phone.

I thought Yahoo may try to compete with YouTube. It appears many people would
want to just post a film clip of their news or opinions.

[FairfieldLife] Re: Yahoo Groups shutting down

2019-10-17 Thread cartesiancoordina...@hotmail.com [FairfieldLife]
Hi,

I am a lurker in this group. I come by once in a while to see what's
happening.

Hats off to Rick and others who have had the creative foresight to allow our
unfolding realizations to have a social outlet.

That single experience of the first meditation blows everybody out of water
for the rest of their earthly life, and it's great to have a little community
where we can compare and share notes as we mature in our awareness of what it
is that happened to all of us.

I hope that some type of group can continue.

I like the simplicity of accessing archives on demand. Also, at a time where
every app is jealous of personal info, the anonymity is an important feature to
retain.

I have no doubt that something even better may show up as that same universe
that brought us to here will probably continue to surprise and amaze.

Forgive me for being a casual observer of this group.

I know for certain that my relationship to the topic of the room is not casual
at all and I am sure that is true for everyone who ever showed up here.

Well done everybody, and thanks for being there for me to lurk.

I want to say I love everybody here...and as one sardonic monk-key buddy at
Livingston Manor once told me:

 "Don't worry, it will pass"hahahahahahaha

For folks coming in with interest in the meditating community story in
Fairfield, Iowa, -academics, scholars, and journalists- looking in on
Fairfield, the archive of FFL has served a useful place to research for
perspective.
I noticed the Yahoo! search functionality has been degrading for a while back
since Yahoo! was acquired by its new owners. More recently the sharing of post
links were being denied. End of a time. FairfieldLife served an important role
at a time. Too bad the archive will disappear. It was a good run. Thanks all.
